Hi,
Today I found all issues of the old RC magazine "Grid Leaks" in PDF on internet and maybe some of You would like to read these old Magazines. Here is the link to the PDF files for all Volumes and No:
http://www.vintagercfiles.com/Grid_Leaks/
What Grid Leaks magazine was You can read in first issue Vol 1 no 1 1958, page 2 in the PDF.
There is some pattern info here and there in the various issues like short reports from World Championship 1962 (Vol 3 No 10) and 1963 (Vol 4 No 5), an article based on info from Ed Kazmirski about "Updating the Orion" (Vol 5 No 2). I'm sure it is more pattern stuff if you dig through all issues.
The Grid Leaks magazine was published from 1958 - 1966:
Vol 1 (1958):
No 1-10
Vol 2 (1959-1960 and 1961 Jan-Feb)
No 1-10
Vol 3 (March-April 1961 - 1962)
No 1-11
Vol 4 (1963)
No 1-6
Vol 5 (1964 to Sept-Oct)
Note there was no Nov-Dec issue published (why is described in Vol 6 No 1 page 3 in PDF)
No 1-5
Vol 6 (1965-1966 Jan-Feb)
No 1-7
Vol 7 (1966)
No 2-6
Grid Leaks ceased with Vol 7 No 6 and You can read why in that issue page 3 in the PDF.
Although I did not fly RC during the period 1958-1966 when Grid Leaks was published (I was born in 1961 and I started to fly RC in 1973) it is an interesting glimpse into that period of RC to read in Grid Leaks.

Thanks, Bo
Grid leaks was always on the living-room coffee table as a small boy.
Not only will I enjoy the content, but re-living when I learned to read!

Dean Pappas

I really want to thank you for all of the hard work it took to get these together. I was flying (and still am) when these were published. I have a few issues of Grid Leaks up in the attic. This makes me want to go looking for them. If any of mine are in better shape I would be glad to send them to you to keep. I will start looking the coming weekend.
Thanks again,

For some reason I stumbled across this site this morning and saw the Grid Leaks information. It brought back a memories of time spent memorizing them
My older Brother, James Lanterman (Butch), and I used them as a guide to understanding R/C and we spent hours building our equipment based on what we read in them. I designed a ground effect machine that used pulsed rudder only for control based on Grid Leaks information.
My Brother went to work at World Engines in RC design for a number of years after graduation from Purdue, and I graduated as an Aero Engineer from Purdue working for McDonnell Douglas helping design the F-15, etc.
Grid Leaks guided our formative years and I thank Paul Runge for that. I am 71 and I am flying every day that the weather (and arthritis) permits. Now after I have flown with my new shiny JR-12x, I will read a Grid Leaks magazine to get a comparison with. I'll think about the good old days
Good Flying to all,
Ben Lanterman

I saw several of those on my dad's desk in the very early '60's. Didn't know they were about r/c until many years later. He had an unfinished balsa model, escapement driven, in the basement. He was a dreamer...

I
have an original Volume 1 number 1 Grid Leaks magazine that I’m looking To sell. I’m looking to see if there is anyone here that would know of anyone that could point me in the right direction. I actually have from Volume 1 number 1 Grid Leaks November-December 1957 to volume 7 number 6 Grid Leaks November-December 1966.

Hello,
I came across your post, and although it was quite some time ago, I figured there's no harm in asking.
Do you still have these Grid Leaks for sale? Vol 1 No 1 and perhaps others? I am seriously interested.
.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Douglas Gurney
