Default What is it?

Just picked this up at auction. Looks like a 60 size pattern plane. A buddy thinks its an older pylon racer?

The wing is about 65 inches. Fiberglass fuse. The wings are not removable. The trailing edge of the rudder is curved.

The 61 SF I had on the shelf dropped right in.

Anyone know what is is and the CG?

Thanks, Mark

After looking at this a lot, i suspect a scratch built design.

Back in the 60s, 70s and 80s there were a lot of owner designed or scratch built airplanes. If there hadn't been, we wouldn't have the selection of Classic Pattern planes to choose from today.

In other words, not every pattern plane we find are built from kits. Thank goodness that the pattern fliers didn't rely on ARFs to be able to fly.

So I'm on the right path.

It could be a scratch built one-off. A while back I bought a pattern plane and could not figure out what it was. A few years later I joined another club and met this old pattern guy who brought a stack of Kodak pictures of all the planes he designed and built. Sure enough, there it was.

There is nothing like the pride that is felt when you fly a plane that you designed and built. Even if it was a wing from one design, tail feathers from another and your total imagination for a fuselage. That's only one of the reasons I love this hobby. The second is all the friends I've made over the years with the same interests.
