Default MK Aurora power ?

Hey,

Some of you guys with 2 stroke 60 pipe experience help me out!!

I am digging out an old Aurora for Classic Pattern and need some advice on pipe length for a YS short stroke 60, rear exhaust. I have an Hatori 650 (I think.) What would be a good plave to start? Any info would be appreciated--fuel/prop, etc.

Thanks,

The YS 60 RE is happy with anything between a 11/7 to 11/11 props (APC, 11/8 is one of my favorites for this engine). Depending on what prop you choose will determine where to start with header length. Here is a link that gives a step by step tuning process for a tuned pipe/header combo.

As far as fuel goes. I use 15% or 20% nitro. Depends what the hobby store has in stock. Glow plug is the always tried and trued Enya #3. Yeah.... there are $8.oo each.....but it has been my experience that this plug will outlast most plugs on a 3 to 1 ratio.
Hope this helps.

I had great success running the YS .60FR using the K&B 1L plug. In the early '80s I let mine scream with a 10.5x7.5 but now with a slightly longer pipe the APC 11x8 or 11x9 work great. HAppy flying!!

The old 60 was very happy turning a 12x11 or 12x12 APC on 15%. It ran great on KB1L's and the 650 pipe set at around 14 1/2" from exhaust to the screw, if memory serves.

In fact the 60 was far easier to work with than the later 61 long stroke.
