I have been looking at a Dr. Jeckle that is for sale via consignment in a local hobby shop. The plane is fairly large new but not finished, fiberglass fuse (and possibly wing), and retracts. The only info the folks at the shop have is that it is a "Chip Hyde" Dr. Jeckle. Does anyone have any additional info such as possible manufacture, engine size, etc. Also, what would be a reasonable price.

Chip Hyde is active here on RCU. He is also part of Team RCU under this forum:

Who better to ask then Chip himself. His user name on here is Double-vision

Propwash,
The Dr. Jeckyl is presently being manufactured by Precision Aero Composites. I believe the cost of a new kit is around $300. The Dr. Jeckyl is an excellent flying 1.2 size aerobatic plane. It is a precursor design to the "Wide Body" pattern ships of today. It flies faster than the "modern" ships but would probably do you a very good job in Pattern Competition up to the Advanced level. At most pattern contests, everybody is looking for "latest, greatest" but it is the pilot that wins contests....the plane comes into play when the contest is close. That plane was very competitive in the middle 1990's so the kit is probably less than 10 years old. The foam doesn't get old but you want to make certain that the fuselage is straight!!! If the kit was stored incorrectly, the fuselage will attempt to become a banana. Always remember than when buying an "older" design, it is a buyers market... so you should be able to get a good price. Hope this helps.
