That's not a Phoenix. It's a Trion. Very similar, but not the same. Trion has a different shaped vertical fin and rudder. It was made by Fliteglass.

Tony,
Did you know Ralph White when he owned Fliteglass? He was a great guy and I’ve often wondered what happened to him?

Hi 8178,
I met Ralph several times, he was a great guy. Sorry, I have no idea what happened with him.
SratchbuildC,
A Typhoon 2000 would be a great model for initial pattern. I had the first one Ron built and flew it in 1999. That model is still on the contest circuit in Northern CA. I sold the model and it was refinished and still flies very well.
BTW, I have the plans and a lot of the cut parts for a Typhoon 2+2 that I'd be happy to send anyone interested in building one. I'll send the parts free, just pay for the shipping. I believe I have all the wing, stab and fin ribs cut out.

Trion? So another classic still lives. I've never seen one built before. You would have to know the plane to see the difference between the two. At first look you would think Phoenix but I think I see what you are talking about. Now I'll have to go to my storage room and move a bunch of kits around, just to get to my Phoenix 7, just to see the difference.

It is very similiar to the Phoenix 6-7 as Tony mentioned. Stab height it a little different as well. Alan Dupler is the designer I believe. My Dad has one hanging in the basement next to the phoenixes. Tony F probably flew against my dad and that exact plane when he was up and coming!
