It doesn't cut very evenly and it tends to shink unevenly too.

Congrats on the completion and successful flight test. I have to give you [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif] and I hope we get to see a video of it real soon.
What's it's ready to fly weight?

I don't have the ability to do Video sorry.

It ended up at 6.25 lbs. It is a real rocket. It goes straight up and straight down at the same speed. I love it, it is one of the best flying planes I have ever had.

In case anyone is interested the ST 91 is running an old Hatori 650 pipe. I am getiing 14,800 RPM on the ground with an APC 12x9 prop and 15% Omega fuel.

I changed a couple of things during the build, which I need to reflect on the plans and then I will be glad to send you a copy if you want.

Hey that's good. You hit it right the first time. No roll coupling in
knife edge is a plus. I would like to see a copy of your plans also.

It is in Visio format, but I am sure that any local print shop will be able to print it for you.

I guess I need to write up some construction notes too.

If possible, a dxf would be much more universal or even a pdf if you don't want people tinkering with it. No need on the construction notes (for myself anyway), I have scratch designed a number of my own models and should be able to sort out anything I come across.

I totally forgot my manners with the last post, too. Great looking plane! 6.25lb with a piped ST91 is fantastic, I know what that engine will do with 8lb models on a muffler, I can't imagine what yours is like...[X(]

Thanks for the effort to design a new ship and then share it with everyone via this thread and the plans,

Mark

Unfortunately I did the plans in Visio basic and I don't have the ability to convert it to anything other than VSD. If there is anyone who has the ability and wants to convert it, that would be ok by me.

Outstanding project - and congrats on an excellent flying plane !! Ive been following the project build - excellent focus on specific goals - and indeed an good outcome.

Just want to confirm this - you have a 12x9 approaching 15K peak ground rpm ? I ask because, by enlarge, that is somewhat beyond the capabilitites I have had a ST91 demonstrate. Might be some magic with the 650 - just want to confirm.

Thats correct, I was shocked too, I checked it several times. Maybe I just got a good one. LOL

I was OK with the weaker performance, after all it was a cheap engine.I was getting 13,500 on a 12x8 before i put the pipe on it. This engine (at least the one I have) was definitely made for a pipe, it has really come alive.

Thanks for the followup. Good deal.... you indeed have an exceptional engine. Hang on to that puppy.

Both the ST91 and OS91 are little more thank over-grown .61 engines - they really perform well on the same conventional "60" size props. From what Ive seen, too many guys over-prop these. Sometimes with disapointing results. Although the best I was able to get from the ST91 was about 13K on a 12x8, with the jett muffler. The OS 91 runs about the same, both prefered the 12x8. The H-650 deep-baffle setup appares to provide a great deal more boost. I may have to play with it again.

This is the new "Chinese" version of the ST 91. I have noticed some visual differences between it and my older versions. The first one I noticed is that the exhaust port in the liner appears to be slightly taller ( more duration) I attribute the extra pipe performance to this.

Also the opening the spray bar on the carb is wider but more narrow. The needle valve also appears to have a more aggressive taper to it as well. This may be creating a more efficient fuel air mixture.

I am a complete amateur at this I am just applying what I remember from physics class in college.

I just did some snooping on Microsoft's home page and it says both Visio 2000 and 2003 can do a "save as" to either dwg or dxf file types. Does yours not have this option?

Well, that sucks. I will PM you my address if you want to send me the Visio file and maybe someone in the office here can convert it.

So I decided to build another Venom. But after looking at her and looking at the original Mach 1, can you guess which direction I went in ? LOL

Although the Venom flew great, it was a bit of an ugly duck. LOL

So here is what I have so far, let me know what you think.

I like your Venom. And I really like the way the lightning bolt graphic on the fuse looks. It makes the hump on the top look like shoulders... really agressive looking[>:], and flashy... COOL!
I would love to have one w/ retracts, clear conopy, and a pipe tunnel kind of like an Atlanta. Where the tunnel dosen't quite blend in with the fuse but has a personality all itself.
Venom an Ugly Duckling?? Not to me, I like it!

Well its a lot more blocky looking in person. LOL

Would you like me to redraw it with a rear exhaust canopy for you ?
