Default MAN Plans Purchase

Hi All,

I am about to order some plans sets from MAN for various projects and I wanted to see if there were any favorites I missed on their shrinking list of pattern ships. My choices:

Deception
Mach 1
EU-1

Others, not pattern planes:

Swick Taylorcraft
Spinks Acromaster

I'm waffling on the Curare, I have plans for the Minare already and I'm not sure I will ever get to it's big brother at the rate I'm going... Also, if anybody has an older catalog of theirs and can suggest some that are not listed on the website I can ask about those, as well.

Thoughts/ideas welcome,
Mark

Wolfgang Matt's Arrow. I built 2 from their plans. Great flying airplane and easy to build.

Hey Will,

Thanks for the input, I will add it to my list.

I also forgot to add the Eyeball, but it is available as a kit now, so I may just buy that instead.

Thanks,
Mark

The Cutlass is another one to consider. That was my first pattern plane back in 1977 and I'm building another one now from a Mini-Flite kit (Actually a Cutlass Supreme, but the kit and the MAN plans are very similar). The original had fixed gear, but retracts were an option in the kit. I started the new one for SPA, but the recent BPA thread has me thinking about putting in retracts...

I have 2 Mini-Flight Cutlass Supreme kits. I met Fred Angel years ago when Mini-flight was in business. It was his second business as he owned a furniture store also (I think). Anyway, about 15 years ago he came across a bunch of brand new Cutlass kits that had somehow ended up in his furniture warehouse. I grabbed 2 more kits since I liked my long departed first one a lot! Nice flying airplane!

The eyeball kit is being marketed by http://www.eurekaaircraft.com/ . They are also marketing the Troublemaker, Banshee and Mach 1.

Mark.....

You had better waif some more. I have four different copies of plans for the Curare' here. The M.A.N. version has some problems. Many times the problems deals with wood, if fractional or metric thickness, they seem to interchange on that plan. More problems with the areas alotted for the landing gear, for some odd reason the gear is longer in the extended position than the retracted. It seems to shrink about 1/4 inch in the two positions. In round figures the M.A.N. plan is not all that good nor accurate, nor cheap.

I just completed a rigid gear version of the Curare, and it smacked the pavement vertically at full scream. Am on to another one once I locate some metric thickness wood again.

Well, I went and ordered a bunch of plans:

Deception
Cutlass
EU-1
Spinks Akromaster
Swick Taylorcraft

I passed on the Mach 1 because I have a set of the Venom plans from paternflyer and I will use those to build a sort-of Mach 1 (Mock 1?) that has the looks and great performance with a quicker build time. Also passed on the Curare because it just wasn't speaking to me today. Maybe the next time...

Now I just have to wait for them to show up.

The Venom realy is an easy bird to build. I got the second fuse framed up last night. It took me less than 2 hours.
