This thread is a lot of fun to read through!

Worth bringing back I think...

(Wish Raindave was back)

Good one Brian!

I concur, Rainedave seemed to contribute a drawing to every post. He also seemed to have more plans than anyone else I know! Ray is our official librarian when it comes to articles.

Just wanted to let everyone know that on April 28th and 29th the Bear Mountain Flyers in Bakersfield, CA are running a combined AMA and Classic pattern contest. There's going to be a lot of great names flying Classic, but one very special one is planning on attending. Joe Bridi himself! Can't wait for the event! Here is a link to the thread about the meeton RCU,

Still, my favorite Bridi design is his Trainer series models (fully symmetrical airfoil). They were campaigned in fun flies for many, many years by lots of folks. I even won a pre-novice event flying one against Tipos, Curares and Dirty Birdies. Honest! Easton, Pa in 1981.

Ed,

Just goes to show yet again....It's not the tool..... it's the mechanic!!

TonyF-

Could you please take a lot of pictures? Especially of Mr. Bridi's involvement and anything he may want to say or do.... VERY jealous. Wish I could be there. I am interested in what he's been up to, his opinions on the resurgence of classic pattern.... but most of all- in letting him know he is dearly loved and appreciated by so many of us! Even though I have never met him, he is definitely a hero that has made my family's life a lot richer because of his efforts and interest so willingly and freely shared. Please share with him my gratitude.

I'm planning on submitting an article for Model Aviation about the event with a highlight on Joe. So I'll be taking a lot of pics.

I haven't built it yet, but I have the plans, and am currently compiling a wood list, and searching for a supplier. Also, I'm still undecided about power. I have an OS .61 RF, but I'm unsure of using it on this size plane. I likely will never compete with the plane, but I'd prefer having a little too much power than too little. Any suggestions?

Somebody once gave me a built up but uncovered Bridi Trainer .60 fuselage. Its still sitting in the basement. Its made out of some pretty heavy balsa. You could use that fuselage as a baseball bat.

They must get their balsa from national balsa. I actually used a piece from national in disgust playing yardball with my kids.

Default Old Thread - lives again "Reprise" is "Total Kaos"

Interesting, the Reprise is identical to the Bridi "Total Chaos". The Total Chaos uses a "Curare" wing.

The Dirty Bridy wing is what it use.

Will you be adding the Trainer Series to that? I'm building an EBay find Great Planes Trainer 40 . . . I'd love to build a 60 . . . Although not a true trainer (maybe a pattern trainer?), I learned how to fly RC years ago on it . . . I'm modifying my kit for two aileron servos, sheer webbing, and a basswood dihedral piece . . . I might add an other framing piece on the rear fuselage as well . . .

Same here! After the first wreck were the wings split (my bad construction, I later added a dihedral brace) I repaired it and replaced the destroyed Royal .45 with an OS .46SF with a tuned pipe. That airplane was surprisingly enough was one of the faster aircraft on the field. I kept on flying that plane until enough crashes and fuel spoilage finally destroyed it's structural integrity . . . I've got two, and am building one for electric power.

If you'd like to send me a quote on a complete Trainer 60 *kit* w/plans and instructions . . . I might be very tempted . . . or post the quote here - whichever is most appropriate. To be precise, this is the Bridi Trainer 60 with fully symmetrical wings NOT the PT and etc. I'll email you as well - thanks!
