Default Dirty Birdy 40 Engine Mount

Hope it's ok to post here - I have a 25 year old Bridi Dirty Birdy 40 and I need an Engine Mount for it. I need the original mount that has BHE 40 and 6.5 C.C. on the rear flange. It's sort of octagonal shaped too.

Does anyone have one laying around? My "Black Birdy" is one of those airplanes that has much sentimental value and I just don't want to retire it yet.

Thanks

Glenn

If it helps any my Great Planes Tiporare kit came with the 10CC version of that mount so it might be a Great Planes part.

I haven't had one of those in a few years now, sadly, or it would be on its way to you.

Those mounts are still my favorite mounts of all time. The Kraft/Hayes mounts come in a distant second.

That sounded familiar so I went down to my shop and I have one. Indeed as 8178 says it is the old octagonal Great Planes mount. These are only worth $4 or so. The shipping would be more than that. I would suggest you ask locally at your club and flying field. There were tons of these made. I bet one of the older modelers near you has one.

I had to replace the mount in my 18 yr. old Super Kaos .40. It was the same mount and I couldn't find one either.

I took it to the hobby shops with me looking for one that was closest. A round mount was the only one that would fit (Dave Brown I think). But the hole pattern was different so I redrilled the holes in the mount to match the blind nut locations in the firewall.

Do you have the 6.5 CC octagonal mount? If so would you be willing to part with it? I will pay the $4 or so and whatever shipping it takes. It's worth it to me to get the original mount.

Um, yes and yes. Wait! are these scarce? OOPs, price just went up!

Just kidding.

Hey it looks just like the one posted by impactiq but is not drilled and has no hole on the top for the front gear. Hey if you want it hit me with your address by PM. Mailing might be a problem. It's a lumpy little thing.

Of course, impactiq is closer to you and shipping would be cheaper.
