Probably this one? I sent you an e-mail which included a good article on the plane. I'm still flying this one. She's a great ship!

Late last year I picked up a Tiger Tail III. I am told by the person I bought it from that it was flown by Ron Chidgey at the 1979 Nats. I have attached a couple of photos. The plane appears to be original in that it has Futaba s130 servos in it, a Webra 61 Black head with Dynamix carb. I have sent photos to a CPA contact of mine to see if he can have Ron verify the authenticity of the plane at a CPA event this weekend. I believe it to be original as it has Ron's AMA number on it. I also included a couple of scans of Ron and his plane at the 1978 Nats.

I have some photos of pattern planes taken at a couple of contests in Lancaster CA and Santa Maria CA in 1986 that I would like to send to CAsniffer but I need some help identifying a couple of the planes. I have attached the photos I need help on.
First photo has 4 planes in it and was taken at the Lancaster CA contest in 1986. From front to rear they are: Dash 5, Phoenix 8, unknown (lavender or purple and white plane) and a Tipo. Can anyone identify the lavender/purple and white plane?
Second photo taken in Lancaster CA in 1986
Third photo was taken at the same contest
Fourth photo. What is the plane in the foreground? Taken at Santa Maria CA contest in 1986
Thanks for your help,
Ed

Way cool pics!
Look at all those Custom Woodcraft Flight Boxes! Nice!
First picture the unknown lavender or purple and white plane looks like an Atlanta.
The second and third look like the same model with different color schemes
In the forth picture I don't know about the plane on the Custom Woodcraft Flightbox, but the plane on the ground with the nose cut off looks likea Ed Baronowsky Renegade.
Great pics! post more!

Roguedog, here you go.
First photo was taken at the Lancaster CA spring contest. I believe it was Feb 1986. Individuals are (left to right), Mac Patterson (kneeling), Tony Plebanek and Dennis Galloway. All of the three guys and I lived in Santa Maria CA. These three guys were my mentors in pattern. They all flew Masters class
Second photo was taken at the same contest as photo one. From left to right the guys are: Don Williams, Dennis Galloway and Tony Plebanek. Don was also from Santa Maria CA.
Third photo is a Tipo and was also at the Lancaster contest.
Fourth photo is a Tipo and the photo was taken at the Santa Maria CA contest in summer of 1986.
Hope you guys like them. More shortly.

Here are some more photos. All of the photos were taken at the pattern contest in Santa Maria CA in summer of 1986
First photo: Force Majeure. Looks like a Tipo in the background (red/yellow)
Second photo is a Sceptor (looks to me like it is a modified Tipo but not sure).
Photos three, four and five are all Tipo's
Enjoy,
Ed

Purple and white I think is an Omega. Actually the model above in the Dave Brown scheme looks like an Illusion not a Tipo. Wing is not on the bottom. Pic to the left of that looks like a Magic. Fin shap, upswpet wing tips and air outlets in front of fin give it away.

Referring to the planes in the first pic, post #355. ''(lavender or purple and white plane)''. I'm sticking with an Atlanta. Note the combination of MK look, inverted engine, mid swept wing, and most important the extended forward wing root fillet.
#368
Are there 2 models named Atlanta? That fuse is clearly different than the zigsaw model pic below which doesn't have as much rake and has the extended fwd wing fillet.

I wrote a quick program to to change transparency of the zigsaw '84 build instructions pic. Then overlaid it on the original '86 pic and captured the result.

Hey Ed, The first airplane in you photo list I'm pretty sure is a Yoshioka Dash 5. You also have one that was a Jim Kimbro design. He's still active in pattern so shoot him an email and he can probably tell. Hope this helps.

I was looking at the third picture in post 355 (thinking that was "purple") and the plane you were referring too... [:@]
Yup...Your right...That lavender/purple airplane in the backround is definatly an Atlanta (which you have figured out...
)I'm suprised I didn't see that!! I'll usually notice an Atlanta, even in a crowd...I must be slippin'...
So Sorry...

After spending weeks looking through Atlanta 60's Splash project on his Atlanta Iwas tripping when he said it wasn't an Atlanta.
Glad that's cleared up.Second batch of pics, look at all those folding lounge chairs, do they even make them like that any more?
dhal22,. Why don't you use the fold out fold out legs? Too wobbly? I have two of the Custom Woodcraft Flight Boxes, one I got off the ebay and a new one I had built with and extra large prop drawer across the top.
I remember rethreading those old lounge chairs as a kid. The material would wear out and my mom would buy the replacement material and recruit get me to do the rethread them.

There are two versions of the Atlanta, the 84 and 86, The 84 has beam motor mount provisions and the 86 is setup for a conventional motor mount, no beam mount.
The differences between the planes must be subtle if any because I never noticed anything except the change in motor mounting.
Something I will have to look into when I get a chance.
That green fuse is an Atlanta, there is definitely more rake in the tail fin, might have been just how it was photographed.
It was just the tail, everything else screamed Atlanta, but Chuck made me doubt myself.[sm=confused.gif] LOL Chuck.
All settled, it’s an Atlanta! No doubt. [sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Well if I could read!!...Now that I go back and re-read that posting he clearly states "in the first photo....." then he gets to the third plane which is lavender or purple and calls it "unknown".....
Dummy me...I looked at the individual photos going left to right...I got to the third picture (which looks sorta purple...to me) and knew that wasn't an Atlanta...
I can see where you guys thought I was nuts....lol
Sorry...

Greg:
Post 355: You are correct about the Dash 5. The planes in the first photo of post 355, from front to rear are: Dash 5 (red and black flown by Tony Plebanek), Phoenix 8 (red with blue and white trim flown by Mack Patterson), the lavender or purple and white is the one that everyone seems to think is an Atlanta (I think I would have to agree) and the last plane (red/silver and black) is a Tipo
Roguedog:
If you look at the photo in post 357 where you commented about the folding lawn chairs, you will notice a short leg folding lawn chair with yellow and white webbing. That was my chair which I vacated to take the picture. Believe it or not, I still have that chair and another one just like it. I guess I am just a pack rat for keeping them for 26 years. Yes, I have replaced the webbing more than once LOL.
. I chose the short leg chair (commonly referred to as a beach chair) so that if I fell out of it afterhaveing a few beers, I would not have very far to fall
Scott:
I got your e-mail and I sent Ron an e-mail with the questions. As soon as he replies I will let everyone know what the three holes in the leading edge of the Tiger Tail wing are for.
Atlanta60:
Are we ready for some more photos? If so, I will post a few more photos. I need to dig thru my archives. I probably have a few hundred photos of my early pattern days. Just have to find the box with all of the 35mm photos (No, they did not have digital cameras back in the days I started flying pattern) LOL
.
Thanks to all of you for your participation, isn't this fun?
Ed
