I just finished my MK Curare, have to pick up the spinner at the LHS, and just finished running up the engine. Need some info on initial throws. Plans don't call for any but I figured it would be a good idea to start with some knowns if you guys wouldn't mind giving me your setings.
MK Curare, (original parts still in box)
ST61 PDP Bluehead with old flow thru muffler, jeez is it loud!
6lbs, 6 oz dry weight
Yeah, I know it needs a few stickers or stripes, I'll get there, but after waiting 30 years to find this kit whats a few more days? Thanks in advance for any info.

Ailerons: 1/4" up 5/16" down
Rudder: 2" L & R
This is a good starting point. The ailerons on mine needed a touch of differential, hence the difference up and down.

I have that exact muffler on one of my Blueheads. I don't know why they call it a muffler, because it doesn't. I took mine apart and screwed a large sheet metal screw into the flow through venturi from the inside. That quietened things down a lot but unfortunatly also robbed quite a bit of power.
The good news is tha most any 60 sized ST muffler will fit this engine.

Differential is usually "more up than down" Occasionally reverse differential is needed but is rather unusual. Did you find that your (very nice) Curare required it.

Our Curare is 27 years old, the original radio didn't have dual rates. The differential is mechanical. IIRC we bent the torque rods slightly forward toward the servo to give that amount of differential.

Thanks David, i'll try again.
This is the only model on which I have ever used "reverse" differential. Own design Enya 35X powered flying wing. Dead easy to build and great fun to fly - who needs tailplanes.

I'm also curious to hear how it flies.
