Pulsar Bipe for SPA
#1
Does anyone know where I can get an old kit or if anyone has a production on the Pulsar Bipe that is SPA legal? I would be interested in some scratch build plans if anyone knows where to get them as well.
Thanks for any assistance.

Here is an earlier thread on the Pulsar. Rainedave had kit plans at the time. He'll probably chime in with what he knows.

I bought a much flown Pulsar off RCU a few months back. I've only seen one kit in about 3 years of watching ebay. This one had been flown so much that all the tread was worn off the tires (or maybe it just took a long while to get off the ground). There was some damage to the wings which I have since repaired by resheeting the damaged areas. I removed the firewall and need to do some patch work where the rear exhaust engine/pipe cut into the fuse. I've made all new tail surfaces. Generally it's a solid plane and it will restore just fine.
If you keep watching, you should be able to pick one up. I believe kits were also made by Flair.

Do you still have plans that a scratch build could be done by? If so, I would be very interested in getting a copy. If not, could you provide me with some pictures of the fuse construction, and inside construction. I would love to fly a bipe in a SPA contest!!!
Thanks

Kevin:
A scan of the plans is posted on the Pulsar link, above. I did not get any plans with my built plane. If I remember, the plans may not be full size, and, because the fuselage is fiberglass, there are absolutely no construction details or formers shown. I can send you pictures of my fuse, but I don't think they would be very helpful.
One SPA pattern bipe I know of is the J-Bipe. This is kitted by Eureka: http://www.eurekaaircraft.com/airplanes/jbipe.htm
I built a J-Bipe from an original kit and did a thread on it. I'm ashamed to admit I have not completed it: it sits painted waiting for the installation of the cabanes and radio.

All,
I have had several Pulsars in the past and might still have plans, but they are not full size and are missing some critical items.. I also looked several years ago when there was alot of buzz around, to taking a kit that I still had and using the fuse to make a new plug and cut with wings and sell.. Even doing in house it was not cost effective. I know there are a few who would like this plane including my self again.
I flew with Norm in PA, many years ago and even had him looking into a bigger version of the plane at one point.
If anyone has one of these planes even crashed let me know..

Contact Tom Pirrone at 918/341-3414 if interested in a new Pulsar...he's actually tooled up to do the Pulsar II (both wings swept...very pretty) but you should be able to work out something. Tom used to build Pulsar kits for Norm Cassella and actually won his class in the National Multi-Wing Championships with one.(1976 maybe???) Anyway, Tom's done fiberglass fuse & foam wings using the Casslock struts.

I messed up Tom's phone number it is 918/371-3414 (you will hear a message for Hearn's Auto Care)....it is the right phone number and just leave a message. The Pulsar is one great flying biplane, very smooth and strong knife-edge.

Tom also did a larger Pulsar prototype using the ST3200.... (again fiberglass and foam) It flew well.......just didn't get complete enough for production phase.
