Carlo,

nice find. A little effort might produce the specs on the left of the model.

It also looks a bit like a Sequel.

Here's my read:

Length = 56.3" (w/o spinner)
Wing Span = 63" (1600 mm)
Wing Area = 682 sq in (44 dm^2)
Wing Airfoil = NACA 0018
Stab Span = 26.4” (670 mm)
Stab Area = 181 sq in (11.7 dm^2)
Stab Airfoil = NACA 0012
Weight = 7.9 lbs (3600 g)
Engine = .61 (10 ccm)
Prop = 11 x 7" (280 x 175 mm)
Tank = 12.8 oz (380 ccm)
Wheels = 2-1/3” (60 mm)

I can’t figure out what 33% represents (perhaps CG location?) or what the last two lines under the airfoil specs stand for. Corrected - materials required - translation taken care of by UStik.

Looks essentially like a Curare with an Atlas nose.

A few differences in the canopy location and the fin layout but otherwise the canopy & rudder look pretty close. The Russian model looks a little more "fused together" behind the canopy and at the fuse/fin junction much like the Curare and Tiporare.

Here's my read:

Length = 56.3'' (w/o spinner)
Wing Span = 63'' (1600 mm)
Wing Area = 682 sq in (44 dm^2)
Wing Airfoil = NACA 0018
Stab Span = 26.4” (670 mm)
Stab Area = 181 sq in (11.7 dm^2)

Weight = 7.9 lbs (3600 g)
Engine = .61 (10 ccm)
Tank = 12.8 oz (380 ccm)
Wheels = 2-1/3” (60 mm)

I can’t figure out what 280 x 175 stands for, what 33% represents (perhaps CG location?) or what the last two lines under the airfoil specs stand for.

I guess it’s a start.

David.
No Russian modeler here? My dictionary says the word before 280x175 is (air)screw, a 11x7" prop. Under the airfoil specs is a list of materials: glass, balsa, resin; K-153 might be the type of resin.

Behind the canopy is room for receiver and battery, behind that the servos ("little machines") .

Text in lower left corner reads "Drawing of the model of the sports master of the USSR, champion of Moscow, member of the selection team of Moscow, A. Kusnezov (Moscow)."

Nice.

UStik,

nicely done! See, if I was used to thinking of props in metric it would have jumped right out at me. I knew they were mm but I couldn't figure out what a "square" dimension would be for. I'll amend the specs above.

Excellent translation of the bottom details!

Interesting! Not a serious flying machine with fixed gear though.

i love it 8178! so many retract haters out there, i can't stand it. my number 1 reason for not getting into modern builds yet is the fixed gear that is everywhere.

The word Центровка means trim or balance, the abbreviation САх should be mean aerodynamic chord (MAC). The c/g is at 40% of root chord, though. Nice to see how the main landing gear is "pointing" to the c/g.

David,

CG is indeed positioned on 33% of MAC (mean aerodynamic chord)
