I find the best Way to avoid being Shilled it to only place my real bid in the last 10 Seconds.

If there is a Dodgy bidder at work, he can't up your bid

That's what I do and it works most of the time, at Auction house auctions where you are in person, and you think there is a false bidder > I let them have the Item for a while........let the hammer fall once .....going once......Place your next bid.

If they think they might end up keepingt it they then normaly back off A paid bidder does not want to win it....Also If you get a look at him wait until he bids on another item that you don't really want .....bid it up high let him keep it.

Do that a few times and he will go away and won't be so keen to out bid you next time.

I use to go to alot of Auction House Auction's before $Bay happened, in a small town or city you got to know the regulars, and you could work things in your favour sometimes, Say for example there is a Lot with a mix of Cameras and Model engines. You could cut a deal with the camera guy: - Ill buy it you go half's and you get the cameras, I only want the engines. He then would not bid and we would both win.

Now there a buyers bidding to re-sell on $Bay and everything goes high [] .....I don't bother going anymore.
