The first Sig ad that I could find showing the Komet is in the March 1972 issue of MAN. The ad is entitled "Sig Introduces Nine New Kits" The others include the Citabria and Mustang 450.

Most people that have flown them have the same general consensus, they fly good, but it isn't a competitive pattern plane. I'm in the process of building one now, just for nostalgia.

Jeff,
Unfortunately the ad page does not show the issue date so I guess the only difinitive way to prove it is to actually have the magazine.
However, for what its worth here is the relevant part of the ad and the corresponding mag cover.
Forget the Guinness (ugh), I'll have a glass of Bushmills (distilled in my hometown)

The Tony Bonetti I knew had grey temples.
I think that was right around the time that Rhom-Airs were introduced. Hence, the illustration on the cover.

Jeff,
Yes that's Mr Bonetti, his Troublemaker and a Rhom Air demo rig on the cover.
This is the stuff - I thought it was quite well know in the USA judging by the number of Americans who visit the distillery. I think a pint might be pushing it a bit though
Try the middle one first until you acquire the taste.
Gotta do my bit for the local economy.
Good luck with the Komet.

Just a cover shot Randy, nothing more about either inside. The highlight of this particulat issue is the plan/construction article for Ron Chidgey's 1971 Nats winner, the Tiger Tail.

Afraid not FB. As I said, there seems to be no connection between the cover and the contents. I'm sure there is some sort of review ( Field & Bench as MAN called it) on the Rhoms but that might take a while for me to find - unless someone has a reference.
