Andy,

That's cool. So did you mold the main gear doors to airfoil or are they small enough that it didn't matter?

WF,

try the auction site. I was tempted to bid on the kit Andy probably picked up. Glad I didn't.

David.

Where to get?
They're inside my computer

I simply took the outline measurements off the Speed 400 plans (Flying Models plan CD-044) and put them into my CAD package. Then I scaled it to 35" span and designed the structure within that.

If you watch ebay, you can find kits pretty frequently. Search for "Lanier Shrike" (no quotes). I paid $72 for the kit I won a couple weeks ago.

David - thanks for not bidding! It was crazy enough as it was!

The doors are small. I used 1/32" ply for the inner side, then sheeted with 1/32" balsa. I mounted them in place and sanded, so I guess you can say they're curved to the airfoil, but it didn't take much.

After I get back from the meet in PA this weekend I'll be changing the nose door to use hinge points instead. Only so many 1:30 AM's I can handle. It's been almost 2 weeks solid of them now!

Andy
