WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
Well I see half of the thread pictures are not showing up now, I hope this is not gong to keep happening to the threads on RCU. If it does I will not post any longer. To me it is not interesting reading a thread and there be no pictures. I click on them ond they never load? Does anyone know why RCU is messed up?

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
Try selling something when you can't post a picture. I've had some items for sale and when the time ran out it wouldn't let me re-post the add with the same pictures I had used before. The boys at RCU must have some big problems we just don't understand. I think we just need to be patient and they will eventually get things fixed.

I hope so.

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
What would our position be if there wasn't RCU ? If it work's 90% of the time, then there is an issue, why complain? We do not necessarily pay costly fee's to use RCU's service. If you cannot post a picture, or get what you need or want immediately, the pay to use service, auction site's are at your disposal. There you only pay a tiny fee also.
Let's look at the good side of this, your glass can be half full, instead of half empty. Think of this: I complained because I had no shoe's, until I met a man that had no feet. Crank |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
Here, here! I agree RCU is awesome!
Awhile back they were havening problems where only the first image would auto thumbnail and the others in the up load were full size. Could it be the Xed out images are all the full size and the system will need to thumbnail them? I was careful not to up load any full size images and I don’t have any X images in my Speeda build that I can find. |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
Yes, good advice. Re-size to 480 pixel's, best result's.

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
All of the images I’ve up loaded to RCU are standard VGA 640X480 JPGs. Seems to work about right. Enough detail and they easily down load to full size when you click on the thumbnail. I try to post a lot of images with my build threads and the 640X480 images speeds the process when people are reading your thread. You are somewhat limited to how fast RCU will process the thumbnail click to the full size transition not necessarily the speed or your internet connection.

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
I do resize all of the images and save them for the web with Adobe Photo Shop. I've never had any problems uploading in the past 10 years. It has only been the last few days that things have disappeared or not worked normally. I was only wondering if they had changed servers or somthing like that. I have noticed that when the thumbnails are X out that they took very long to load or never loaded at all. This is a bummer.

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
That's why we all have email! Send for pictures if you want to see more. Always works. If people really want to sell it should be a no brainer to go out of your way to present any info any way you can. If you have something to sell you have to tell someone about it! Then again there is always ebay. RCU is still the best in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
guess the growing pains of the merger is catching up with them..... There are other classic forums out there also... :)

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
I read somwhere in here that RCU was updated or changing out their servers. They said there would be a few issues, such as this, until sometime in January.
As I understand what they said, RCU seems to be functioning better that they had hoped through this transition. They were suggesting the possibility of no pics, some threads locked out, and the store area to be mostly unaccessable. This has happened a few times, but for the most part, it seems to be working okay. I have noticed that some overnights, in my area of the world, the entire system is shut down. But it hasn't happened very often. If so, I may need be institutionalized... Who are the "they" I am referring to? I don't remember exactly, but "they" were responding to these questions in other threads earlier this month. Brian |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
You can give some a gallon of ice cream and they will complain that they only wanted a quart !!
O well come on spring time I'm ready to fly ...... Dp2 |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
RCU is really great which is why I am concerned its not working very well.I do love Ezone and flying giants but find selling on rcu easy and productive.it is a little frustrating that its not very dependable of late.GET IT FIXED!

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
I sure hope they get the video section working again. I sure miss watching fellow RC's flying their machines. I'd rather watch that then watching T.V.

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
You can use photobucket or similar picture service and just drop in the html link below your description or post. Be patient and understand RCU wants their site working more than you do. RCU is one of a kind. I'm careful with my money, and felt upgrading my membership was the best thing I could do to support the forum that gives so much in return. For you, taking it for free, gives you all the access that I get. A glitch in the picture service is just temporary. There are a lot worse things in life to complain about. I'm all ears! :D
Isn't this picture just dandy? Try it. It's easy. (OS VF peeled liner.) Shhhh....don't tell Konrad. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...C/CIMG0958.jpg |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
There has been quite a few issues since RCU went down a while back. Great to here that they're concerned and plan to fix it. Until then, some will probably move on to other sites. Scott started a Classic Pattern onlyforum, and then theres that RC site with "Groups" (figure out the name) that many are changing to. Both great sites and are growing. I visit that Group siteevery now and then, but I think since more sites could actually hurt something like our little interest in this hobby. RCU is like the largerest shopping mall for RC. This forum gets a lot of viewers just looking in since they are already logged on to the site. Would be nice if we stuck together, in the bigger numbers, in one site. This being the most popular, just makes sense to stay here...IMHO.
Myself, I'm staying. Been here for about 6 years. Another month of waiting for the issues to be handled doesn't seem so bad, but I do side with Freq. Flyer, it does suck right now. DM |

I like all of the online sites and I try to spread my diminishing available resources according to which I use the most - which has always been, and probably will remain, RCU. Not that I don't like the other sites too. Each has its own personality and flavor, so to speak. To each his own, but I ain't goin' anywhere if God doesn't intervene. Ed Cregger |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
As you know we moved servers and took a couple weeks to iron out some of the bugs (there were a few to get through).
Please let me know if anything else is not working properly so we can be sure that all is back to normal. thanks for everyone's patience |
RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
It's a long way from being normal:eek: not close. What a mess. A person can not navigate this forum at all. It gets bad whn you can't even answer a question on your own thread. I just got shut off trying to post here[:@]

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
Would you all move over to RC Groups if I could get Jim to open a Pattern forum over there?

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
there is another classic pattern forum site and free selling......

RE: WHY IS RCU SCREWED UP?????????
Not sure Iunderstand. You all posted here just fine.
Rather then complain how about giving us some specifics of where things are breaking. You posted that you cannot post in a post. Icannot troubleshoot anything unless Iknow what the issue is that we are dealing with. We can fix issues that we are made aware of but with two posts every minute in the forums things seem to be moving along. The issues we saw were related to images and I'm trying to determine if those issues are resolved or if any other issues remain. Your cooperation is appreciated. thanks marc |
