here an enlarged view of the area which I hope shows the pin.

Again, ????????

My plans from the kit do not show that. Maybe Frank added that after his first kit run? If so, it would have been for joining purposes, that's all.

ok I will draw the rear of the hatch as you said.do you know what airfoil was used?If I knew I could use wingcad or profli to draw the templates and even a bulit up wing.

RE: Peppermint Pattie

I do not remember the airfoil, I think I just used french curves. It is a rather thin section, with a sharp LE at the root, but rounded at the tip.

I brought the plans to Staples, they will be $7.00 per sheet

So for those who want some:

$8 for mailing tube & postage
$7 for each sheet you want (I can put them in one mailing tube, obviously)

Please send only checks or MO to:

Nic Damuck
PO Box 148
East Haddam, CT 06423

If you want an email confirmation, please include that, also.

well I took the root rib and imported it into profli v2 and tried to find what airfoil it was.It did not match any in the library 100% but got a hit of 65% csimilar to an ultimate airfoil.the ultimate is a bit thinner 12.85 @34.2% of the chord while the patty is 13.57% @ 37.5% chord. It is getting late but I will double check the finding again tommorrow.Kinjd of wondering how it would fly on the ultimate airfoil?

WEDJ 03-25-2007 03:56 PM

RE: Peppermint Pattie

Probably would fly very well. I believe that at our reynolds numbers, we do not gain much by any particular airfoil curvature. % thickness and a smooth curve are more important than the exact cross section the way we fly.

WEDJ 03-25-2007 04:01 PM

RE: Peppermint Pattie

Secondary thought - did you import the root airfoil with the sheeting, or just the core? I thought I had figured a 14% section, but that was long ago and far away. Maybe I shot for 13.5, I dunno anymore.

aerowoof 03-25-2007 04:52 PM

RE: Peppermint Pattie

I did it with the sheeting from the fuse side veiw one other airfoil that was an eppler 521.anyway it could have been 14% but with the copying and paper sheinking/expanding with humidity over the years may have lost just a tad.

Bump

Anyone interested? So far I have only one request for plans.

Looking at the SPA rules, I realize that "Niris" should be a SPA-legal plane. So I wrote to Mickey to have it added to the list.

Darn! Now I have to decide between my own design, a Banshee, or a Taurus.

I know, I know..........

But I really don't have time to scratch build right now. My two favorite past planes were my Taurus, I built it in 1969, and the Banshee, done first from scratch, then I built one from the J&J kit.

I now have 4 requests for plans.
TX, TX, PA, SC

It is very gratifying that people even remember my plane, never mind actually liking it!

OK, as of today, everyone's plans are in the mail.

Thanks for the plans. Little PP will be my next build after I cover three planes built this Winter. (Dirty Birdy, Tweedy Bird, Antares Sailplane.)

Nic,

Thank you so much for the plans, for me its fun to see the progression you made from Niris to PP II. I'm more into the old .60 size aircraft and your plans are gorgeous. Simply makes me grateful to modelers like you who not only were creative, but were craftsman to boot.

Funny, I just told you I will be building the PP II but I will probably build the small PP simply because I have a Webra 20 which I've had for many years and it would be a good little motor to put on the little PP.

Curious if you actually used the "Belly" wheel or was that an after thought for those that asked for it.

I hope with the 'start up' of the BPA, you get many request for the PP II. Great looking aircraft, and worthy of some "Ballistic" airtime!

Hope to get the chance to meet you perhaps at one of the BPA Contest...

RE: Peppermint Pattie

Hi Tony,

No, I never used the belly wheel. I did put one of those plastic tail skids at the extreme front of the belly pan, however. Saves some monokote scratches.

I copied some album photos for you, and will put them in the mail tomorrow. One shot shows the "magic muffler"

Hi Nic:

I know everythingh in USA is worth money, and old helpfull modelers no longer exists ( but some exceptions like rainedave) I live in México and have a passion for pattern planes.

You think you can scan the plans of PP and send them to me by E-mail?

due to the place I live in and the problems for paying for the plans , hours in the bank, variable exchange rate dlls vs mx pesos, etc... I ask you to do it for free, not regular request I know.

But you may have a happy pattern friend down in México.

Thanks

Hi,

I am sorry, but I do not have the ability to scan plans. I know someone on this forum is trying to digitize the .15 version.

RE: Peppermint Pattie

Nic Thanks anyway, if you know about the digitalized plans let me know.

Regards.

Picture of PP II taken at Floyd Bennett Field, 9.17.78 according to notes on back of picture. This Pattie has "laced" red stripes. I'll post some others later on.

Can someone help me post this photo? It is in the photo gallery here.

I right clicked on the photo, then copy shortcut, then pasted that in the middle of the image notes.
