John, I am following along. Could you please look at the attached photo's, I was told by one modeler, it is an Arrow. The gent I purchased this fuselage from, said Curare. When I returned home, fitted a Tipo wing to it, airfoil not the same. I believe the Curare and Tipo share he same airfoil. This is a wood built up fuselage, with a glass cloth canopy.

It is a heavily modified Atlas fuselage. The giveaway is the side mounted engine and lack of tunnel for the rear exhaust, upright engine.
The anhedral tail is modified, as is the canopy area. Evan, WB #12. |

Evan, thank's. I was told some time ago, just about what you said, the Atlas, modified a little. I can now look for Atlas core's ? I have many project's here, but want to put this bird back in the air. Thinking of changing the stab, to straght.

I'd do the same, level out that stab and build some Atlas wings for it. Bring it back to what it was originally. David. |

It looks to me as well a modified Atlas.....The arrow was based on this model This is the MAN doc on it I have been using it to help with the arrow. I have taken a break from sanding to fix the stress fracture in the wing.....success so far looks like I will be flying the $5 Wing :D I must decide if I re-finish the wing or just touch up the paint and use it as is.......Opinions ?? I am thinking not broke why fix, and it has some sort of history and my have been used in a comp once, someone may reconise it at the field ....who knows this Arrow may have won the state champs in 1981 ;) Johnkpap |

John, thanks for the plan's. I have alway's wanted to use a paint scheme from one of the European champ plane's. The new Curare ARF with some green in it may be a good choice. I will get the plan's, etc., printed to full size. On the wing, a straight edge for all panel's would correct everything. Are you going to glass the fuselage, etc. ?
David, I am going to cut the stab half's off close to the fuse, CF tube's thru, adapt new stab to this. No pipe here, I have a good inventory of NIB OS61 SF's, easy engine choice. Vince |

I am going to dope/tissue the fuse, I did that to my 40 size kaos and it worked very well,
It was very light and did not add alot of weight to the kaos This balsa/ply fuse has a bit of weight to it, add to that a glassed foam wing and a heavy OS 61 V plus pipe and Rohm retracts and it starts to add up. If I glass the fuse I will just add more dead weight. Good luck with the Atlas Crank should end up a nice plane Johnkpap |

Yep, Atlas is one of the best. Arrow is a bit different, smaller span, different wing airfoil and plan shape. I have an Atlas, all wood from the RCM&E plan, looks very similar to the MAN plan. 7lb all up, OS.60 FSR and muffler. I have Arrow plans, but no RE engine...I do have a NIB K&B .61 series 73 which would go well in an old Thunderstormer, but the open front muffler won't go down well at the local...

In theory you don't need a RE engine, I have a manifold that adapts HP and Webra 61 side. RE engines come up for sale now and then OS, Enya Supertigre and Webra all made them, manifolds are still avaliable from MAC's, sometimes you can get lucky my LHS had a clear out an sold me a box of OS 61 RE Manifold's at $5 each as no one else wanted them:D Expect to pay around $100-200 for a good OS 61 V/ SF RE Johnkpap |

Yeah, I had thought of that, that and angling the engine over so the standard exhaust lines up with the duct...I have a Phelan Magic Muffler and elbow that just mught do the trick...

I have repaired the stress fracture on the underside of the wing.
I did the following cut a 2 inch slot in the middle of the crack removed the foam in the slot, just enough to take a block of spruce. I then put some weight on the wing tips (bricks) and blocked up the centre to open the crack,I glued the crack with some watered down white wood glue using a small brush to get it in.....I then weighted the wing in the opisite direction - bricks in the middle.... I then Epoxied the spruce block in the slot plus a balsa plug. After everything is dry no more problem :D All I need to do is finish with some Epoxy and micro filler, sand smooth and repaint or just stick a bit of film over it. Johnkpap |

About the RE engine you could also buy an mvvs 61 those can be rotated into an RE allthough they aren`t very classical they work pretty well ( i have one on my deception and i`m pretty pleased about it . Grtz Erik |

I have just about finished sanding, will attach the tail soon......Sorry life tends to take our time. My childern ar bigger now and I will have more time over the next 12 months....I hope.
