So, if you guys leave at 0001 on Friday morning you will be there early afternoon in time for the Slow Lap contest
or in your case the Fast Lap contest. Maybe we can hook up for supper on Friday night. I am also staying over Saturday night and going home on Sunday.

If anyone is interested I have a World Models SkyRaider (Red), ThunderTiger TT Pro40 engine, and 3 servos all new in the box for 265.00. I was gonna build and fly it in the race but doubt I will have the time. Let me know if you are interested! Offers will be considered!

ED one thing I have learned in running races is to delagate as much as you can, or you will end up killing your self. The last race we had here in Waco I did this and I had time to fly too. Its the first time I enjoyed myself at a race that I was the CD.

Here is a copy of our standard Tech Inspection form. It is geared toward the SRMII which most pilots are flying. I will gladly add in the LA specs if I had them....

WE will have 3 Tech lines !! One for airframe, one for weight and one for engine !! Your airplane will have to have a sticker on it from Tech before you can fly !!! We will also have the tech people in place and the planes can be checked for those that will be in on friday to speed things up... Also Don't forget the fast lap deal on friday PM also !!!

Hello Gentlemen,
We held a practice race today at WAAM to get a feel for the course and to make sure everything is ready for the competition. Everything turned out good and I think we can say we are waiting for you guys to show up. The fuel is here, the tee shirts are printed, and the course is ready! We had some scattered clouds and sunshine. The really stong winds came in about 4:00 after most racers had departed but the rain held off but surre threatened at times. The photographer for the Tuscaloosa News "Dusty" caught some of the action. Here is the link for some photos he took today!

I think I can say he did a pretty dang good job catching the photos at just the right time! Sorry Dave![X(][
] Anyway Dusty will be with us on Race Day so we can be sure to have some great shots.
Here's looking forward to seeing all you guys! Just come on down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We at WAAM had our monthly club meeting today and most of it was about the Race! We are even looking at Sponsors as the word has gotten out about the race around town. The local newspaper The Tuscaloosa News will do a nice feature article on the race so look for a large turn out of spectators. We have volunteers to help with parking, timers, judging, scoring, and safety.
We will have two ready lanes with flight stands set up, one on each side of the pilot area, one for staged (next race up) and a pre-staged (ready to move up). This will mean after every race the next ones will be ready to fire off and move out. We have alot of races to run and we hope to keep things moving.
The course is set up so that if you remain on the concrete no hard hat is necessary. If you move off into the grass toward the flightline then headgear is required.
On behalf of WAAM I want to say WE are looking forward to meeting everyone and hope to make YOU feel at home and enjoy yourselves! Have a safe trip and see you at the field! I will be there both days so COME ON DOWN!
Thanks to everyone,
Ed Waldrop CD
PS:For those of you who have pre-paid or pre-ordered Tee-shirts the list is in and they will be available on Friday and Saturday. Don't worry we will have plenty in all sizes for those who did not pre-order, and they will be available to the public also. We have 2 great raffle prizes to be given away which I know everyone will be interested in.

Yes sir we have! We have a large parking area. Competitors should be able to part in the first rows and close to the club houseas they will be there early. Our concern is for spectators but there is ample parking along the entrance road and plus there are soccor fields, softball fields and a huge area in the North Complex where we are located.
There is plenty of room to drive thru the lot just like in a shopping mall for loading and unloading plus handicap parking right in front.
Thanks
Ed

Barry,
The fast lap thing will be in the PM !! We will have the poles up and will be ready, as I would like to give people that are coming from a long distance as much time as possible.. When we get 4 or 5 ready to try it we will put some turn judges and timers in place and have at it !!!! There has not been a set time for this to start. If more come up later we will give them a chance as well !!

Don Stegall and I will be driving down on Thursday. That will give us a day to relax and rest up from the long drive.

James that’s no fair, you and Don should have to run 20 laps around the pylons before the race. Resting-up before the race is almost as bad as cheating. Be careful on your way to the flight line, you may trip over someone sleeping.
