We had late Summer / early Fall temperatures here in Clovis through most of December. Weather took a real downturn, now 17 F, below freezing for next 3 days. Had a few snow flurries this morning, but barely dusted the landscape. And no, we are not staying up for the New Years celebrations. It's to bed by 10.

It is rite at 0 here and 10 mph north wind. We normally go for a walk after supper, the dog started scratching at the door and barking so we bundled up and went out for about 1/2 mile. It is beautiful out with a nearly full moon reflecting off the frozen pond and shinning through the trees. Now the dog is contented to be in the warm garage. Happy New Year to all from the Kansas prairie.

We had our annual New Year's Eve Dinner last night where I performed my usual role as wine waiter. I'm feeling slightly delicate this morning but the secretary will be calling for me at 14.30 to go back to the club house to tidy things up. The field is waterlogged and impassable to my two-tonne RWD Volkswagen van, that's why he's calling to pick me up.
At the dinner I presented my annual "As Light As A Plum Award." This is usually given to the member whose flying has caused the most amusement in the past year. There were a number of potential winners. In fourth place was your humble servant. My landings or arrivals are always a source of amusement. In third place was Francois who treed two models on the same afternoon. In second place was Julian who panicked at the controls, allowing his glider to fly out of sight. It made a perfect landing in a farmer's field several kilometres away! But I gave the prize to the club's two youngest members, a young lady called Morgane Perrin and a youth called Jean-Elie Fournel because they have made more progress as beginners than anyone else. I gave them two engines from my collection: a new OS 61 SF for Morgan and an Irvine 72 for Jean-Elie. I have over forty engines and I will never use them all so I thought I'd hand these two over to someone who might use them.
The Club President and Secretary are avid photographers and doubtless a number of pictures of the dinner will be posted on the club's Facebook page: B2M Berry Marche Modelisme, for those that are interested.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, despite any evidence to the contrary!

At two years old I was always "under Foot!!!!" one day when he came home from school and he and his buddies were working on starting the Herkermer .60 on a test stand in the side room they threw me out!! My mom put me in my crib (I was 2 years old!!) and put it in the doorway!!!!!! "I WAS STOKED!!!!!" ...Never forgot my "ROOTS!!!"

It is currently 25 Deg. and is supposed to stay that way until WED/THUR. time frame. 2018 is not starting out the way I would like to see it but I did make it thus far so I won't grump too much (not). It even snowed last night.
I managed to get some build time in restoring the metal finish on my STANG. and the quality of my work is better. I'm using flitemetal. I also have two King Kobra's in build mode and shouldn't, maybe I can get these builds finished this year.
MR SKYBILL
welcome, You have memories of being two years old? I can't remember yesterday!

We got lucky. According to the the computer it 'only' got down to -10 last night instead of the -18 it was supposed to hit.
This kind of really cold weather just saps my energy. There are at least two projects, one from each hobby I really enjoy, that I could do but I just don't feel like doing either of them!

Made it all the way up to -3 at 2PM today. Spent half the day finishing up things. the 4*60 is done for now, just cosmetic and possibly swap out the RX, not having good results with it on first turn on, have to cycle it a few times before it binds. Pulled the tank on my 4*120 to check the clunk, all good there but found the LIFE to be puffed and replaced it, the LIFE is charged OK, so not sure why it puffed. Then started cleaning the shop. Found a work bench I was missing. Now to decide what to work on next, the B-25, or finish the P-47, T-Clips and second Cub. Also have a P-51 and Corsair.

It was amazing, I put a bunch of things away, cleared off a bunch of wood particles, swept it with a brush and there it was! I also have a mouse that has been avoiding the traps. That damned thing is smart, watched as it figured out how to go around them.

Seems like quite a lot of us started the year out right by working on something. Figured I would give my CG Extra 300 /G23 combo a run before heading out to the flying field on the weekend even though I ran it a few weeks ago and had no problems. Well not for the life of me would it draw fuel from the tank but would readily run on a prime squirted through the carb throat. All seemed ok at the carb end so I decided to check the tank only to find a broken feed line and a split in the tank stopper.

First a/c was a jim walker fire baby UC . Spitzy 049 I think. Bladder tank and ajustable aluminum prop. You increased pitch by bending the blades as you got better at flying.
Second plane was a Cox TD3 with an aluminum wing flew great as I remember. Had a paper route and saved my money to purchase my first kit and engine. Went to the hobby shop in Norristown PA. and purchased a Sterling Ringmaster and a Fox 35. Had a gentleman who lived close by and was a pro builder teach me how to silk and dope the wing. Back in the day for those of you who remember the glue was Comet fast or slow dry and Amberoid. Dope was either Aero Gloss or Testers. never stopped flying, Graduated to RC in 67. Old AMA was55719. Still flying today at 77, I like scale and a little 3D, Right now doing a Phoenix 95" Spitfire for the Spring. Thats it, Happy New Year to all......

The Nosen citabra is notoriuos for aileron reversal, and it is mentioned on the plan that the ailerons must be set up with differential (less down than up) about 50% Other than that it is a good flying bird.
Good luck.

2017 went out on a downer and 2018 didn't look any better until this morning. My heater went out Saturday so the heat pump couldn't get the house much above 60 in the day time and not even to that at night. It was even too cold to build in here. I'm happy to say a new control board has been installed and the gas back up is back to work. First repair of the furnace in 23 years so I guess I can't complain.

I saw no evidence of mice.

Well, thats cause it burned up! Been having all sorts of mice issues at my house, even the cats are fed up. I have one in my house that must be related to that one in that moving Mousehunt. That bugger knows where the traps are and can avoid them!
My house is on it's third main furnace since 2001, the secondary furnace is one I installed back in 2001 and still running strong. Got it from Home Depot when they sold furnace and AC units for DYI. It's also the one in my workshop.
