I am having a problem with the nose mount Spring Air retract in my TGA F-15. The nose gear seems to be binding. I removed the unit and tightened the screws on the sides and it worked like new for a few cycles then it started to bind again. This is a brand new unit, only mounted. Has anyone else had any problems like this with Spring Airs?
Thanks, Marco.

My Feedback: (108)
I have not had this kind of problem. Some of the things to check would be that the mount is flush with the firewall or the belly and not being tweaked by the mounting screws, the steering arm sliding up and down on its rod correctly as the gear goes up and down, enough air pressure in the planes tank. Are you using any flow restrictors on the air lines? Is it doing the binding thing going up or down or both? Thanks Dave

it is only binding when the air pressure is released. Keep in mind that these are Spring Airs. They only use air to make them retract. When you flick the switch to make them go down the valve just releases the air pressure in the cylinder. Steering arm moves freely too. I did check to make sure that the mount sits fluch on the firewall. I noticed that the mounting flanges are not even with each other. I think that this may be the culprit.
I am going to call Spring air first thing in the am. to talk with them.
Thanks, Marco.

After looking very close at all the moving parts I found that one of the brass bushing that the trunion support pin rides in is bound to the pin itself. The other side moves freely. I do not want to disasemble this unit as it is new. I am going to call Spring Air to get the lowdown on this.
