Thanks much, Tony. I'll be glad to pay your postage.
Ray, I saw Harry Higley at Toledo and asked about this. He said the book had been discontinued. I asked if any more were available, and he said he had ONE copy; and was kind of a smart-ass about it, so I assumed that copy wasn't for sale...

I've been looking for same book for the last couple of weeks without success. Would be willing to purchase, pay for copying, postage, etc. Any help appreciated.
Thx, Ed

The chapter on incidence and decalage. I've got two vintage bipe kits to build that I paid FAR too much money for, and I remember some tips in there that make set-up easier.
The book also has a lot of info/photos specific to the Midwest Super Stinker, and I'll be getting that kit later this year. I won't jump into that one for quite some time, but now that the book is out of print I want one while they're still some to be had. And I hope YOU'RE still "in print" when I start the Super Stinker; I intend to exercise your memory of when you built one...

When I left Alabama for Arizona, I sold my SS Bipe to Doc Yates.....and now Joe M from Madison Components moved here from Birmingham AL and guess what....he bought MY SS! So I get to see it fly again!!!!
Man, that was a beautiful flying bird....
Jerry
PS If you don't get a copy, let me know and I'll xerox that chapter for you.

Okay; how does the OS 1.60 compare to the Moki? Moki is one of those brands I have zero experience with.
I have no intention of trying to fly my airplanes like a helicopter. I got two helicopters, if the sudden urge to hover should strike me...

I believe the Moki is a bit stronger, but I've never had any head to head comparasons - from the sounds of your flights, the 1.60 should do you just fine!
That kit took a bit more time to build than I thought - but two wings do complicate matters a bit
Oh, you MUST go with 4 servos for the ailerons - everyone I've talked to said the same thing - DON'T use only 2!

I have owned both the Moki 180 and the OS 160. My experience is that the 160 is by far the better engine and as strong or stronger then the Moki. The 160 can be run out of the box and the Moki takes at least 1 gallon of fuel on the bench to get it to run. It does not like hi nitro where the OS will run very strong on up to 15%.
The engine clinic man for RCM wrote a review a couple years back on the 160 and compared the two. I think he said the the 160 was as strong.

Okay, great. Thanks for the feedback, guys. The possibilities are endless; get the SS, but wait, it will be a long time before I get around to building it (and 10-4 on the four servos, Jerry). So I should get a GP Gene Soucy Extra to put the OS 1.60 in for when I get tired of the CG Sukhoi its going in right away...[8D]
Thank goodness my wife supports my hobby. She even pretends to be interested in my rationale for buying this or that...
The US Pony Express delivered my Bipes book yesterday. Patience is its own reward.

RE: Looking for Higley's "Bipes" book...
My first post on this great site. Now, here's where I found a copy of Bipes while surfing for one. There's a place called Happy Hobby in Milwaukee that sent me a new copy. I got it today, 3/16/06. I do not know if they have any more. And the shipping was pricey. The store has a Web site, happyhobby.com, but only takes phone orders as far as I could tell. And the store doesn't have a toll-free number. But I did get speedy service. This is the first time I have seen the book and it looks super from scanning a few pages.
