Default Good .15 sport plane

hey, im looking for a good moderate sport plane for a .15 LA. I had just finished a Sig Wonder which i really wasnt ready for and after about 2 min the wind and a possible radio failure turned it into scrap. I would prefer a fast building kit such as a profile plane. I found a House Of Balsa Extra 300L profile which looks good but it says it needs a micro servo system. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could use my standard size stuff on that plane or if there was a better .15 plane for me to spend my time on. Thanks for the help.

for the most part most planes that size will need mini equipment. one of the planes that come to mind that does'nt need small stuff is a golberg eaglet. hope i helped get things going for ya!---henry

For a .15 size plane, you might consider a "Buttercup" from Mark's Models. Basically, a .15 powered sailplane, it'll give you hundreds of hours of learning time as you get your 'lefts' sorted out from your 'rights'.

Default Eaglet

I agree the eaglet is a good trainer, but mine required at times every ounce of power from an OS .25

I've been considering one of the Hobby Hanger kits. There are no profiles, and would more than likely require mini servos, but they seem to be pretty nice kits designed by well known people.

Ace Hobby also has a few airplanes in their simple series. They claim a quick build with these airplanes. Might want to check them out as well.

I am currently building the Hobby Hanger Gee Bee. It has been quite easy to build. However, I can't get to the site but I think the only choices for a .15 engine are for planes with a .15-.25 size recomendation. Many of these planes seem to have a high wing loading for this size so a .15 may be a bit underpowered and would have to be flown nearly at full throttle constantly. I'll be putting a Magnum .36 into my Gee Bee for some silly power. I picked it because it is only 1.5 ounces heavier than the .25 but with much more power. If the weather keeps up I may be flying in a few weeks! (yeaaa right) You'd never know its Minnesota, there's no snow on the ground!

Check out this house of balsa kit, you can put a .15 in it.

Another good plane would be the Herr Engineering Pitts Special.

It is not necessarily a quick builder but the
Great Planes 20 size Cub might be an option. Or
some of the Combat kits..
