Default Float Planes-Observation

You know, you could have the ugliest looking, disgusting "pos" of a plane and throw on a set of floats and it turns into the coolest looking plane in the place.

FLoats will also give it a good reason to fly like a brick

Not me-- I can take the coolest looking plane in the place, throw on a set of floats, and then I have the ugliest looking, disgusting "pos" of a plane

Actually, I know what you mean. One of the guys that float flies with us build some funky-looking SPAD using plastic gutter for the fuse, and covered the wing and tail with adhesive backed shelf lining paper with a faux wood grain texture. The floats are gray cloroplast. Looks like a flying countertop, but it really hauls a** and does some wild aerobatics

If you want to fly a brick, build a SPAD.

Don't get me wrong, they were a big help during a training period.
But they don't got much of a glide ratio.

Lets not bash spads here. Lets bash ugly float planes

And just for the record not all spads fly like brings. My sickle hauls tail and and still glides in nice and smooth.

I am really into WWI planes, have a bunch of them, and while none are really pretty I have a couple that most people would yawn at. One of them is the Balsa USA 80" Eindecker. It was so-so until I put it on floats, now it really is unique. I can understand where your coming from with that comment.

All SPADS are not created equal! This one glides like a trainer, and flat spins like nobody' business!
