Default Cutting Slots for Ribs, quick tip

Hey all,

Laugh if you must but here is an easy way to cut some small dadoes for snugly fitting wing ribs:

Tool is made for desired width by selecting right size of sabre saw blade and using two Bulldog clips and two popcicle sticks for controling depth of cut. In this example it cuts a snug 1/16" width and is adjusted for 1/8" depth.

To use I make a small tic mark and use a small right angle square to align the cut. Results are shown in second two pictures.

I prefer to use my saw table with the mitre guage and a small blade, But the cold season is here and my shop is detached from the house and unheated.

Notice my cold weather building board perched on the chair arms in my den/computer room.

The ribs fit snug enough in leading edge and trailing edge to dry fit, check alignment and dribble in som CA.

Notice the smaller Bulldog clip holding the leading edge in position.

Tight lines,

Tom Perry

Who is laughing?
I like your idea, as I have a rough time getting the slots right.
Never would have thought of good ole 'bulldog clamps'.
This is the type of info we need here.

Tom,

Great idea...looks like it will work on your no-sand leading edges too.

Hey Tom, just in time...I'm about to start on the tail feathers on my Brodak Nobler. It's exactly what I need! Thanks!
