Default Need Help Identifying a Kit

I know this is a long shot, but I am wondering if any one can help me identify a control line model I had. I'm not sure who the manufacturer was, but I think it was Dumas. I think it was available in the late 70's, early 80's. The main things I remember about it, are the wing ribs. Instead of being your typical ribs, they were two pieces. (see attached pic) I also remember that it had tricycle gear on it. I know this is not much to go off, but if anyone recognizes a kit with ribs like that, it would give me a better avenue to look.
Thanks

Night flyer,

There are probably other sights out there with more info. But I think you have a model of a Crusader that was kitted by Dumas in the early 70s. I had one and used it in sport flying and with a third line for profile carrier. It did OK in carrier but I used a scratch built Bi-Plane that was easier to land and flew slow speed much better.

Here is some info:

Dumas Crusader
This model was kitted by the US company Dumas, probably in the 70s. It has not been manufactured for some time, although unbuilt/boxed kits occasionally come to light on the secondhand collectors market. It conforms to BCD rules completely and can be built exactly as per plan. Although the anhedral wing uses a rather unusual construction (known as the 'Detroiter' method), the model is nevertheless robust and performs very well. As the tailplane is all-moving, it is very powerful and must not have too much movement: say about 200 either way. If the model proves to be very sensitive to control inputs, reduce this movement even further. Plan

Tight lines,

Tom Perry

I agree with Tom. I just went out and looked at my Dumas Crusader kit and is appears to be the one. Let me know if you need more info to identify.

Wow, thanks for the info. It is much appreciated. Would it be possible to get a picture of the box, and art? The website did not show a picture of the model I just got a box with a red X through it.
Thanks again
Pat

Yep, that's it! Thank you for your help. From what I remember, and judging by the pictures, it does not look like they had full-sized drawings that could be built off of. At least I know what to look for on eBay.
Thanks again,
Pat

I believe Dumas also kitted a Corsair with similar construction. I have a crusader with ST 35 RC engine that I would part with if there is any interest. Its a little used but does fly well and the engine is a screamer.May even have a set of plans if I can find them.

Thanks for the offer, but I would prefer to build it if at all possible. Do the plans show full-size views of the parts?
Thanks

The plans are reduced in size and do not show the ribs. It could be built from the plans if they were enlarged.
I haven't located the ones I had. Haven't looked either but I will.

Pat if you really want to build one, I will part with mine. I decided not to build it some time ago and forgot about having it until I saw your post.

Why did you decide not to build it? How much would you want for it?
Thanks

Pat, I have too many projects going right now. For a while I wanted to build a carrier ship, but its not doing alot in my area, so decided to not build it. Keeping a kit thinking it is, or may become a collectible is not for me. If they ain't going to fly, I don't want em. I will take 60.00 for it shipped to your location.

Thanks Lee TGD
