Hi Jens Eirik
Nylon fishing line (nylon) is is plenty strong enough but unforunately have a lot of stretch.
For that reason it really pays off to obtain proper dacron control line wires.
If you have difficulties to obtain control line items in Bergen, one Swedish supplier is Hobbyträ in Gnarp. Have a look at their online [link=http://www.glhobbytra.se/butik/hobbytra.taf?_function=home]web shop[/link]. Look at "Linkontroll", "Tillbehör" and you will find "SIGSH544 Linkontrollhandtag" complete with dacron line, all for 46 Swedish kronor.
Here is a nice link with a lot of information about how to get started in control line:

Jens,
Others have answered most of what you ask.
May I ask: is D-A David-Andersen?
The first diesel engine I ever flew successfully was a David-Andersen 2.5, and that was back in the 1950s.
Luck with your efforts!

Hi Jens
I would NOT use nylon or terylene line. It makes flying extremely difficul because it has too much stretch in it. Steel is much, much easier to fly with.
Before I found a supplier of proper light weight control line here in UK I made up some lines using lightweight steel fishing trace - most tackle shops have it. While you are there buy some clip type swivels for the ends too. And I agree on 10M being about right
Have fun!
