Can anyone help as to the pros and cons of wood versus nylon props?

TIA

That's a really good question and I hope someone can explain it to me too. I have always flown with the nylon, I've used Master Airscrew and APC, and I like the APC props better. I keep about 20-25 on hand, as I fly R/C and C/L. My sizes range from a 10-4 up to a 15-6 in all different pitches. I guess the biggest advantage to the nylon is that if you nick the ground, you can sometimes trim the edges and re-balance it and use it again. I think the wood props self-destruct the first time they hit something. I would like to know the advantages/disadvantages of the wood, though. Maybe someone who has used them a lot will post a reply.

Three advantages to wood props

1-Lighter
2 If you have a premature unplanned landing or tipover on grass field takoff, they are less likely to cause damage to the engine because they do break a lot easier.
3-Really good for beginners, for #2 reason
