I always (40+ years?) flew with handle vertical.
Have watched people who fly inverted with the handle parallel to the ground(palm up) and noticed that their level inverted flight is somewhat erratic.
I think this may be due to the fact that the pilot may lead and or lag the plane as he steps around the circle and the 'aim' of the handle/hand/ arm wanders in relation to the airplane.
They tell me they fly this way so if they get confused inverted they(pilot)can stop rotating and the airplane will return to upright flight with no pilot thought involved.
My dad does this and 9 out of 10 times would crash when inverted except when flying a combat match he forgets to turn handle parallel to the ground and has no problem flying inverted.
The mind is a strange toy ain't it.
