AJ Sun,
Glad to hear you are doing well in recovery!! I'm having trouble trying to fit on (screw in) the 2 inch spinner for my Super Ringmaster! I found I needed a 3/32 inch Allen Wrench to seat the tiny connecting screws, but can't get them lined up well with the prop. I have to line them up perfectly before tightening down the crankshaft nut, but that's almost impossible! Any ideas?? aaganz |
Ya ajjza I think I know what your talking about the Allen is a crazy size. I've got several Allen wrenches but the one that fit the best was one I got from a wheel collar set. That secures my wheels.the spinner is on my 45 flying fool. Four at an angle to secure the prop.spinner. two would not line up until I tried a different hole in the back.plate. seems the four Allen's are matched to a one of four holes in the back.plate. been working on my cover for my 580 fuel tank on my Super Ringmaster. Trying to get it ready for the October Brotherhood Ringmaster cfun fly. Glad to hear from ya. Seems like I was posting. Seen guys were reading it but not responding. Keep.them lines straight and tightAJ.
one other thing lI also had to rotate the spinner mine will only go on the back plate one way. Scribe on the spinner and back plate. So it will.line up. Securing the prop.nut was not a problem and it really fits well. Thought about using locktite on the threads but felt I would strip out the threads. Just better to check them after every flight. I do that anyway, especially the engine 4 mount screws. Learned that deal with experience. |
AJ Sun, et al,
Spinner finally set in! The side cut outs were slightly misaligned, so the spinner did not seat directly onto the back plate! No wonder I was having trouble!! A little work with a metal file on the plastic edges worked wonders, and it all seated over the crankcase nut, and the 2 alignment mounting screws lined up perfectly. Tightened them down with a 3/32 Allen Wrench, All tight!! As soon as the rain lets up, I can run up the engine on its test bed outside!! aaganz |
aaganz! Ya my spinner only goes on one way. Or them small holes just will not line up. Even the small Allen head screws go into a certain hole. So I marked the spinner and hub and make sure I don’t mess up what screw goes where. Darn I’ve tried and tried to cut my wind screen and heat it to fit my Super Ringmaster. Still don’t look right. I need to order some thinner clear assitate, but can’t find any. Seems like nobody is carrying it any more. Sig has the thick stuff. I’ve got that. Been looking at a plastic soda bottle. Looks like a quart bottle just might work. Also one of my old fuel bottles just might be a winner. I’ve also looked at what Brodak offers they got several plastic canapies. Just might look at that again. Keep them Lines straight and tight! AJ

AJSun,
Still here! We have been much delayed by household projects, including a full house revamp for full house AC. Turned out to be a big project. My K&B 19 is still on its test rig on my worktable, ready to be run. I hope to get there over the 4th of July break, now that other items are "off the punch list"!! aaganz |
aajanz: sorry for this delay, having serious issues heart and results from my back ordeal. Haven’t done a thing sense April the 8th. Kinda given up until I can get better. Took a lot out of me! AJ.

AJSun,
Really sorry to hear of the health issues and delays in your many plane projects. Mine are also delayed since March when my brother died in OH, and my K&B 19 and K&B 29 sit in a (mostly complete) test stand on my work table. Life happens, and so much is going on! I will try to send you a private message now, as I have insight on these health issues!! AA Ganz |
Ya I seen your message! Thanks for the ray of confidence, just have completely lost interest in just about everything I use to enjoy doing. It’s like a sickness. Maybe something else is going on physically. Dementia, comes to mind. Developed an eye issue. Very blurred and awful ringing in my ears. Noticed a very flat spot on my skull. I push on it and it’s soft and feel reaction just below my Knick combines with a sinus my nose will run and discharge in my throat. I’ve been to a doctor. They want more MRIs oh well, hate to post this on a Super Ringmaster. But hey thats life!
|
AJ Sun,
I am so sorry to hear of the extent of your issues, and hope the MRIs will give good guidance to your doctors! We do need you back on the forum, and active with your modelling work. You have helped me immensely as I resurrected my Super Ringmaster and K&B 19 and K&B 29 engines, and your continued help is really important! Get better quickly, I am about to run them up! AA Ganz |
aaganz: thanks for the kind words. But it don’t look good for me, a friend told me I was on a pitty party, and knock it off, looks like things are shutting down, kidneys. Heart in a real slow beat, liver infection. That’s what they are treating right now, it that shuts down I am pretty much done for. I may have developed it from my back surgery. They just don’t know. If it was a botched procedure. Feel really sick. Lost some eye site. That’s my next appointment.
|
AJ Sun,
Hang in there, and get that liver infection straightened out! Once that's done, they can get on with the other issues. Don't despair, those guys are pretty good. I have a number of plastic containers out to make a new windshield for my Super Ringmaster, and will cut them shortly. Hopefully when the heat breaks I can get my K&Bs outside on the rest stand and do a first run up. Keep working on those planes....I am waiting to hear more of your 45 Flying Fool!! AA Ganz |
All,
My plane and test stand have been much delayed by some health and household issues! The glow fuel waiting in my test stand tank has turned green!! I have tossed it out, but will refill with new glow fuel. How to clean out the old test tank??? It is 260 ml and was filled with 5%Nitro, 29% Castro. How to clean it out before trying again!! I'll try a separate post on this in the forum! aaganz |
All,
Thanks to J330 who wrote that I can use any dish detergent or Rubbing Alcohol. I am to just keep shaking and flushing it out, and then add a little glow fuel to clean out moisture! This should work.....the old "greenish" mixture will be gone, and my Test Stand will be back in action! aaganz |
I know the Sterling kits did not have plans, but has anyone created them for this design that has part sizes? I am thinking about scratch building one.
|
Vertical Grimmace,
The plans are shown in this thread by "Donnyman" posted 11/7/2023. I also bought them in hardcopy print from ......(?).....but will check the source after Thanksgiving! They are folded on my worktable!! aaganz |
Vertical Grimmace,
I bought the hardcopy "Super Ringmaster" plans (SKU 50369) from AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) in April 2024. aaganz |
