Knocked the remote needle valve off of an Evoulution 46. It mounts on the back of the motor. It broke the bracket right where it bolts to the motor. Is the any product that i can use to remount the broken off part back together? Will JB Weld hold I tried JB on a carb i broke into and it would not hold. The part broke right where it mounts around bolt hole. Any help would be appreciated. I think the metal is cast but not sure. [img][/img]

I see your pictures didn't work. So here is a stab at it without seeing them to know exactly where the break is. J & B weld will work and hold anything, as long as it is clean. This is the key. It will not adhere to fuel covered parts. Clean them thoroughly and it will hold. However, if you don't like to tinker, buy a new one!

r2champion is right, CLEAN is the word when working with JB Weld. It will NOT hold to oily or dirty surfaces. For the money and effort involved, I'd simply order another backplate.

Actually......you don't have to repair this part! Just add your fuel lines, and let the needle valve float.
If you do it this way, YOU MAY FIND THAT THE MOTOR RUNS BETTER.....because these rear mounted needle valves, have a tendency to vibrate, and cause bubbles in your line!

I have tried JB Weld with the parts very clean and it didn't work. Second try I rilled very tiny holes and laced wire through both parts and JB Welded, it held for about a year and then the JB let go and the wire was holding. I would just secure it with something and let her run as RCMANIAC suggested. It actually will remove it from the intense vibrations of the engine.

I have a K&B .28 engine with a cracked crank case that I repaired with J&B about 6 years ago. Many many flights later still hard as a rock and runs perfect. Are you guys using the J&B Quick[&o] or the regular set J & B weld
. I threw my first and last tubes of quick set in the garabage. Anyways, as stated above just leave it as is as long as the needle valve assembly itself is not damaged.

There is a wonderful product called 'Durafix' that allows you to solder alluminium alloy with just the heat from a gas torch. This stuff is stronger than the alloy.
Have a look at http://www.durafix.com/
Have used this on alloy and it works great. Have not needed to repair a motor with it (yet

Thanks fellas. I think I might just let it float. It looks like it was cast as part of the backplate itself. If it will hold where the bolt goes thru and not leak anything then I think I will just let it be. Again thanks I think were it is broken the vibration would not let it hold either. Just thought someone might know of miricale bonding stuff or something.
