I just bought some batteries and charged them up with a NiCad battery charger. I flew them in my park flyer and they seemed to work fine. It wasn't untill after my first flight that I realized the battery pack I charged with my NiCad charger was actually a NiMh. Stupid mistake
. Anyway I figured if they held a good charge when I charged them with a NiCad, why should I bother getting a NiMah charger. Does it hurt them to charge them with a NiCad charger? I'm kind of a beginner in the whole rc thing so any advice would help. Thanks

The main charging difference between NiCd and NiMH is that the NiMH has a much more sensitive peak. Many older NiCd peak chargers will miss the peak, and continue to charge the pack until it burns up.
Your experience tells me one of two things:
1. Your charger is a newer, more sensitive peak detect model.
2. You have a fixed-capacity, or timer-driven charger.
Be aware that NiMH do not hold up well to being overcharged. You should only charge them with a peak detect charger because that's the only reliable way to tell if they're fully charged. Anything else is just guessing, and could be a problem.

hi all, think you sould invest in a good quality charger, i inderstand teh money thing, it definitly deos not grow on trees, butsome charger like the nova deos condition the batteries, we make model aircratf and the smaller warbirds use nimh`s and they are good cells, but you do need to make sure they are conditioned or the chances are that you willl get half th elife of them, trust me iv burnt enough up with lack of experience..lol.
