Let me start off by saying im not very experienced when it comes to electric motor and battery combos. Here is my delima.....I bought a Shockflyer and have put a GWS 370 motor, gear drive, 10X4.7 GWS prop and a 15 amp esc that a friend gave me. I have a 3C 580mah li-poly batt that gives me awsome full power for about 20 seconds and then starts to trail off to about 35-40% power within a couple of seconds(also batt , is warm to the touch...not hot, just warm). I also noticed that when I leave it at a low power setting the RPM's will start to slowly increase and if I punch it it has alot of power/rpm again just for a few seconds and then trails off again. I have a 2c 700mah li-poly that obviously does not have the max power of the 3c but at least keeps constant rpm at full throttle which by the way is more than the 3c after a couple of seconds.
I would like to hover this little shock flyer so help me out guys...where have I gone wrong? Also, im not interested in putting a brushless motor in this airframe.
Thanks, Ken

Conversly, you are going to ruin your LiPo packs ... with throttle management, I've had pretty good life span of the EPS350 motor on C gearing and 10x4.7, and D gearing and 12x6. Both setups, you're going to be pulling close to 10A at WOT - YOU WILL NEED LiPo's that can handle the curent draw!! For a 3s setup, you'll need a KoKam 1500, Tanic 1100, ThunderPower 1900/2100. Etec 1200's are really at the limit for 3s, but works. For 2s, Etec 1200 are fine.
Your 580 pack is only good to 4A or so, and the 700 pack to 5A or so. What brand are they?
I'd recomend you check the voltage of your LiPo packs NOW - if you're reading <9V on your 3s pack or <6V on your 2s pack, the packs are toast - DO NOT recharge them as there's a chance of pretty spectacular failure. You can charge each LiPo cell INDIVIDUALLY at very low current (do a search here) to try and revive them.
