Can 2+2=4
For some reason when I started out in electrics I ordered 2 two cell (7.4 volts) 2000mah packs. Why I ordered them I have no idea, but I have them and I don't want them to just collect dust. Now some of the motors I have will run on 4 cells. Can I take a red lead from one and connect it to a black lead from the other and use the other red and black as the batt connector to get a 4S pack? Basically connecting them in series without taking them apart and soldering them together in one pack?

Yes, you can do this. You'll end up with a 4S 2000mAh battery. FMA even makes a connector module to make this sort of connection easier:

1/3 = .3333333333333333~
so 1/3 * 3 = .999999999999999~
So 1+1 does not equal quite 2 and therefore 2+2 doesn't quite equal 4.
other than that jdetray hit it right on the head. It's actually a good way to buy for 4 cell packs as you then have two 2 cells to use in smaller planes if you wish.
