Default Overheating battery

Hey guys I am new to the battery and power side of the house and I have a home built foam stealth plane like the ones on ********. I am using a stock battery pack from a parkzone typhoon with the stock motor and speed control. The speed control is an programable 20 amp. Today I was flying at full throttle for about 4 min and then I brought it in for a landing and when I went to take out the battery pack, It was so hot the shrink wrap had melted and the velcro glue which I use to keep it in place had come loose. Normally this motor in a typhoon is geared and I run it direct shaft to 9x4 pusher propeller. Is it pulling to many amps because of the way I am running it? I never had this problem in the typhoon. I don't currently have an amp meter to see what is going on but my speed control and the motor are both barely warm when I fly it. I do have a small air intake to aid in cooling the speed control and the battery. Any suggestions as to what is going on? Thanks for any information ahead of time. Dean

Hi Dean -

You're clearly drawing more current from the battery than it is meant to provide. You need a battery with a higher capacity (mAh), a higher "C" rating, or both. OR you need a smaller prop, which will reduce the current.
