, does any one have any secrets in nose in flight besides the sim. thing
Just orient yourself from behind the heli as if you were still standing behind it. The controlls don't change, just your thinking does.

I finally got the CNC head in from RC-Experts from Hongkong.
It took 5 days to ship. Not bad for $5 shipping.

Here's the pics. I'll be installing it and testing it out over the Christmas break.
I'll post my updates. So far, I've read a few people who've tried it and said it's an amazing upgrade.

By the way, I compared this one to the one from Helihobby and it's EXACTLY identical right down to the little markings. It's definitely from the same manufacturer.

..and it's smooth as silk. Zero slop.

I would have to give it a 10 out of 10 for the bang for the buck factor.

Very nice CNC cutting and everything is very smooth and well put together.

It is truly a 'drop in' full CNC head for the Blade. Absolutely no modifications required.

I couldn't resist and just dropped it in to see if it needed anything extra or any adjusting. It did not.

I'm very happy with the purchase and will definitely recommend it to others who enjoy their Blade. I like mine because I can fly both indoors and out.

This will just put it over the top. Not only does it look very good, all the linkages and parts are very smooth and there is no binding at all.

The real test will be when I get it all together for flight... which will be soon.

I'm also going to upgrade it to a Himax 2015-3600 w/10T pinion and a CC10.

I'm going to test the CNC head stock 1st and then brushless and see how it differs.

I got my CNC head from rcexpert on Wednesday all the way from Hong Kong in less than 7 days. It took me 20 min to install it on my Blade and that included trimming the pitch! It flys great! It is so smooth and the response is very sharp. The only thing that will take some adjusting or modification will be the set screws that hold the main head to the main shaft (see pic) I think the first thing I will do is use some lock tight and see if that holds it in place. Otherwise this thing is sweet! The trimming of the pitch control is so much easier to do because all you have to do is remove the motor wires, put the tx in idol up use a pitch gage and raise and lower the head and you have it in perfect trim! her are some pictures of it installed.

Looks like E-Flite themselves are getting into this. Not many details yet but Jason posted this in another forum. Check out this link:

Oppie---
how did you set up your brushless motor on this heli?
can the ESC plug into the stock Rx?
and did you use the stock radio, or did you set it up on a different radio?
I really wanna try to put a brushless motor on this thing.

how did you set up your brushless motor on this heli?
Remove the stock motors. Bolt in the brushless, no mods necessary. You will need to run a 3rd wire down the boom because brushless needs 3. Or run a 3rd small back wire on the outside of the boom.

can the ESC plug into the stock Rx?
There is a brushless esc that plugs into the 4 in 1. I think its from Eflight.
I replaced the entire box with 2 esc, my personal Rx and a gyro since that is what the 4 in 1 is.

and did you use the stock radio, or did you set it up on a different radio?
I used my aftermarket radio, the new Spektrum DX6 so it will never glitch or take a hit.

I really wanna try to put a brushless motor on this thing.
If you have your own radio with CCPM mixing, this would work.
you'll need a gyro though. My LHS sells peizo gyros for about $30.

I'm selling my brushless out of my BCP: $75 or offer.

HiMax brushless motor, 4100kv W/8 tooth pinion for BCP. (Paid $45+$4)
Fiegao 12mm brushless IPS 36T 4100Kv tail motor W/direct drive and prop.($35+$5)
Castle creations Pheonix 10 brushless ESC with heli mode/RPM govenor. ($50)
E-fly 9 amp brushless esc for tail motor($15)
Total cost: 45+$4+$35+$5+$50+$15=$150 for only $75

Sorry for the shameless plug to sell my stuff.

Yes, neutral adjusted. Comes with a small rod to keep the linkages lined up while shipping/handling. When you get it, you take the short one out and install the standard length flybar that comes with the Blade on the plastic head. Once you do that, remember to center all of your servo's, reset your gyro and then install the CNC head. Hook up the linkages and then measure everything and use a pitch guage to set the proper pitch settings.

I would definitely recommend it as it adds a new perspective to your Blade. I've been flying it with the new head on for a few days and it's great. Zero binding. Beautiful finish. I have zero regrets about spending the 110 for it.

I have been flying my Blade several times with the new CNC head and I have been very pleased with it. I had a mishap with it indoors when one of the links came uncoupled and It flew up to the ceiling and bent the shaft between the blade grips. I went to replace it with a good one (an original Blade part) and found the one from the CNC was a very soft brass bar tapped out to fit. It was so soft I could bend it with my hands???? Don't know what harm it caused but because of the hard landing it bent real easy. I'm still happy with it. I make a comparison to my second Blade with an Esky Bell-Hiller head and they fly the with the same responsiveness. Only the blade with the CNC head cost more but looks great. So well see how it fairs when I fly more outside.

Seriously, I feel stupid what is the DD tail mod?

EDIT: Forgot to add wouldn't you be able to use a HoneyBee King barebones kit plus an extra servo to have a Shaft driven tail? http://www.helidirect.com/product_in...roducts_id=836 Or what other parts would you need?

so does the CNC head use a set screw in lieu of a shear pin?
I'd also like to hear opinions on the performance after the upgrade, and more importantly, durability!

As would I!

Any more feedback from anyone about this item?

I'm curious to know how it flies when compared to the stock head. Is it any more responsive?

I was hoping the CNC head would have the Bell-Hiller set-up, but sadly it doesn't look like it.

yes it is a Bell-Hiller head.

I have now seen good and bad reviews of this CNC head. In fairness to potential buyers here is the experience of one other from another forum that RCU won't let me link to for some reason so I'll just quote it here.

From Dcoggs:

I just thought I would chime in since I have had the full CNC head from helihobby/rc-expert etc. for a month now. The quality of the parts is great, but the blade main shaft is somewhat smaller than the hole in the head assembly. Getting the shaft centered is a tedious process that has to reoccur if you crash hard(which I have done). A couple of the bearings in the blade grips were pretty rough, and the copper feather shaft bends when you look at it. After bending that shaft I noticed that the hole that was tapped in the ends of the feathering shaft were off center a good bit. If you buy one of these, keep the original feathering shaft from the plastic head and put it in the cnc head. Not a big deal, but a $110 part should be better. Also the grub screws are trash. The stock eflight screws are much better and don't strip out the heads like the ones that came with the cnc head.

If I had it to do again, I would spend the money and get something that was made specifically for the blade main shaft. The flight tech head is probably better, but is going to run you a lot more if you finish it out with metal parts, and next thing you know you could have had a TREX SE which comes blinged. I already had the blade so I bought the cnc head, but would not do it again. It just isn't worth the money for easily bent parts that were machined by an idiot.
