heavy tail problems

heavy tail problems
hi guys need your help. just finished putting on the "superskids" and did a dual tail motor mod. got it all put back together and the tail is waaay too heavy. it drops alot. in order to balance it i would have to put the equivalent of a battery pack on top off the 3 in 1. is this wrong or should i have to add this much weight? if anyone has any suggestions i would be glad to hear it. hate to think i would have to get rid of the dual tail after just getting it on. thanks

i can move the battery but only a little bit. also thought about the tail boom, not sure of any effects of a shorter tail boom. any thoughts. i have seen guys with pics of super skid and dual tail motors but no one has said anything about a heavy tail problem

I had to put a washer in the nose also. Until I got a brushless motor. So when I got that I had to upgrade to a 1350 mah batt. that realy helped balance it all out.

move your bat tray fwd do not cut boom you have a better chance of a boom strike moving the tail rotor closer to the main blades. This is how I moved my tray fwd.

I did the same thing as the last 3 posters. I just want to clarify that you are reusing the stock BCP battery tray platform. I've got velcro on mine. Toss the two crossmembers that force you to use rubber bands. (that is if you are using the skids from HD....I don't know what sort of battery hanger comes w/ the 'superskid' brand)
Here's a pic to clarify.
In case anyone is wondering....the grey can on the motor lead is a ferrite ring, said to reduce RF noise and hence, glitching. Might be voodoo, but it was cheap. However I've not had any problems after adding along w/ the antenna routing. Yeah, I did two things at once.....not a very scientific method. I suspect unwiding the antenna was the real reason.

I have the Super Skids V3, from the super-skid.com brand. It has the same battery crossmembers that makes you use the rubber bands. I installed them, after about three flights, I dumped them and went back to velcro like you.
I worked at the phone company for 29 years and the ferrite rings do work, the telephone industry buys them by the truck loads.
Good Idea! Who would have 'thunk'.....It sometimes amazes me, that the inexpensive mods, seem to work very well.

Why not run the tail wires through the ring too. Is that a $20 heli direct batt you got their? HOw is it working for you I bought 4 worked for awile and then they were junk.

Yup, that's a 20 buck special. Has worked fine, but I have noticed flight times have started to get shorter recently, so maybe it's starting to crap out. Of course, the motor might be wearing out too. I don't have any battery test equipment. I don't regret buying it though. Got me through the tail in hovering learning curve.
