Default Blade CX2CX2.

So yesterdaywas my birthday and I got a Blade CX2. I flew it a couple times. I have so far broken 3 blades and 1 top shaft thing. Anything I need to know aobut these to help me fly a bit better?

Put on the training balls until you're confident enough to raise it without it tilting and hitting the blades.
When there's an imminent blade strike ... CUT THE POWER immediately!
Driving the blades into something hard breaks more of them then letting them hit without the motor pushing on them.
It also saves the 4-in-1s, to pull off the power as soon as something bad is going to occur.

Josh,

If you're on your own and don't have anyone to help ya, check out Radd's School of rotary flight. It takes time, patience and some $$$$, just to get the hang of it. Don't get frustrated, take it slow.

Yeah, I picked up a CX2 today.. .haven't flown (or even powered it on) yet.. but I read through all of the Radd instructions... and will be following them over the next few days to acquaint myself with the CX2, and hopefully avoid any disasters

I am no novice to R/C (having been into hobby grade R/C cars, trucks, buggies etc for over 20 years, and flying Zagi combat wings for a couple years)... but the heli thing is brand new to me.

Hey cal I have a ZAGI too, love to fly at Fort Funston near SF, lived there for a couple years. The zagi is indestructable, don't expect that from the helicopter!
But the little CX/CX2 is a lot tougher than it looks.

Happy Birthday Josh!
You are doing great, it only took you a day to discover RADD's.
It took me two days, I broke more than you did...

well, I just got back inside from my first "lesson" with the CX2... I'm really glad I started off slow and ON THE GROUND ... otherwise, I KNOW I would have broken stuff!!! I do have to admit, towards the end of the battery pack, I did have it off the ground (about 2 or 3 feet), which was still manageable.. but I can certainly tell that it will take some patience to get 'good' at flying this, and I'm glad I didn't try it inside the house for my first attempt!!!! Anyways, it seems like it's going to be a BLAST! Thanks for pointing out that RADD tutorial... some of the tips/pointers/instruction in it really helped.

Josh

Welcome aboard to the CX2 club
CX2 is my first heli, I learn to fly without using any training gear, just need to go slow and take your time. I did break something, like all the other guys did, but my first accident was almost 2 weeks into my flying. Basically, when I think I am good enough, then I become careless, and also do crazy thing, then I break something. Another reason for the accident is flying in the wind outside, you loose control and slam into something. Have fun!

I just spent two weeks on a basic simulator (FMS) 1 hr a day then got my cx2 and was up and running. I have 30 batteries through it and am ready for a Collective pitch. The SIM gets you familar with the controls and saves on the frustration factor. Also take the time to set it up right every time you fly. They fly great when trimmed but if you have to fight it and fly forget it. Good luck

What is this basic simulator you're talking about? How much $$ is it? I liked the Realflight sim at the LHS, but I don't wanna spend the $$ on it.
