Default 3in1 cooked

Well, today while adjusting the blade tracking there was a little puff of smoke from the 3 in 1.little to say the tail motor wont run.If I plug the tail motor into the main motor lead the tail will spin. There must have been major melt down the tail boom was even alittle warm. I gotta say I am so frustrated with this heli stuff I think it might be smart to walk away for a while,Maybe if I can a day or two

yeah man that sucks. You can always put the fuse mod in. It's pretty handy and keeps things like that from happening most of the time. Also if you are handy with soldering, you can just solder in a new power mosfet on the tail channel, and you'll be as good as new without having to drop $45 bucks for a new 3 in 1.

here is the part

Rsking45,

If the tail boom was a little warm, then you have a wire that's touching it. The carbon fiber in the boom and most of the heli, is very conductive of electricity... Almost a dead short, If you have an ohm meter, take one probe and put it near the main frame, take the other probe and put it near the tail housing.... Wow, almost a dead short... Check your wiring...

I see what your saying, but if it is a short in the wiring when why when I hook the tail motor leads to the main motor the tail spins. I dont know much wiring or electrical current

It could have been also when you were trying to track the blades that the tail rotor got caught up on something and stalled. Like if it was sitting on the carpet, and the tail skid poked down into the carpet and made the rotor bind on the carpet, or grass would do the same thing.

What part of the boom was warm?

oh and BTW I did an ohm test on my boom like choppersrule said, and I was expecting it to be lower, but I got about 70 ohms.

Well if it is a "short to ground" then your tail boom is acting like the ground letting the current continue from the boom to tail motor and would definitely be a reason for your 3 in 1 to fry. Hope this is a simple enough answer.

Note: current always takes the shortest path to ground!!

I dont think 70ohms is that bad I would like it to be higher, anything 5 or less is direct interference free current.
