I have never flown a heli before today, but id say i did pretty good. i was just trying to hover right in front of me. Id say i did pretty good, but when I try to turn the heli and face it towards me i get disorientated. Like i said it was my first attempt. Im flying a CP Pro by the way. I took the symetrical blades off and put on flat bottomed blades. One of the blades has a little ding in it and the white paper is coming off a bit, should i replace it? Im pretty young so i dont know much=/...but im a pretty good plane pilot. i fly a twist 150. and a mustang 60 size.
Thanx in advance for your help.

i scotch tape them and make sure they are still ballenced till they break. you are gonna get disoriented alot just learning. as you have probably found out the cp can get away from you fast and cost of blades does add up so i fly them till i can no more.

Dont get discouraged... I flew planes for many many years and just recently jumped into heli's. Seemed like it took forever to get comfy hovering, then nose-in hovering, then fast forward.... after a whole lotta fuel, a couple seasons of practice and a lot of simulator time I'm just now getting comfy with flips & loops & toying with inverted hovering. Take the time to get very familiar with hovering in all orientations & you'll have much less "exciting" recoveries from botched manuevers later. Take your time & have fun!! Attempting nose-in hovering on your first attempt is quite an accomplishment.

sounds like you're doing real well =) I would maybe just take it a little slower on the nose in, try side in first and just keep doing side in and just bring it a little further and a little further as you get comfortable with it until you can bring it nose in =)
About the blalancing, PM me with your e-mail and I can send you a balancing guide, or you can ask the guys at the field too.
About the blade covering, if there is no crack you can tape it or super glue it back down as long as there isn't a crack in the wood. You can also take it off, just be careful that you don't get splinters or peices of blade shot at you because they will come off at the worst moment possible =)
Plasti-blades might also be something to look into as long as you are past the boom strike stage. They are alot more durable and will hold up after several crashes, but if you get a boom strike with them it's a real pain. Also make sure to do the paperclip mod if you get plastiblades, it might actually help with the blades you have as well. You might also try the fuse mod.

well i came up with a quick simple way to do it. I took off both blades and put one mounting screw through both of them and then held it up..and then i just added tape to the higher side until it was even. but im having another problem. i talked to a guy at the field and he told me to look into a g90 gyro. because it has a heading lock or something...what does that do and how much is it gonna set me back. also is it worth it if its only my second day?

well if you want to go that route you can. The g90 at my lhs is 80 bucks, but depending on the store they might go up to 100. I'll link a video of what the difference is between HH and rat4e gyros. Basically it will take the aspect away of always having to fly the tail so you can learn to fly easier. IMPO unless you are crashing alot, go without it for a bit and learn to fly the tail, it just might make you a better pilot. When you step up more in flight then I would say go for it =)

yea....im gonna start on my third charge in a few minutes....the HH gyro seems like something to look into in a couple of months...my understanding from the video is that with the HH gyro it will keep it facing the same directions as when i took off unless i give it left and then it will keep facing that direction...so where ever i make the nose face this gyro will do its best to keep it there. is that correct?
