My cp with superskids is now heavy. I'm running a 1300 lipo on an otherwise stock bird. My question is, what is the best way to increase the performance so i can do some aerobatics? I'm using plasti- blades symetricals on it. I've also got it programmed into my Eclipse 7, and have tried turning up the head speed to no real benefit. It had more lift with the flat bottom plast-blades than it does now.
Brushless main and DD tail appears to be what I need to do. Your opinions and suggestions are appreciated.
I also have the superskids titanium boom, which I will be shortening to help with the tail heaviness.

Not really doing 3d, just want to be able to roll and loop right now. I'm good with the hovering and fwd flight. Now I want to be able to throw it around a little bit.

Consider going to a 9 tooth pinion motor (EFLH1110B) with a main motor heat sink (EFLH1128). This is a recommended motor/pinion combo for sym blades and 3 cell LiPos IIRC.
I would also throw a tail motor heat sink (EFLH1131) or two on it while your at it.
Good luck and good flying!

yeah, if you want to be able to do a roll or a loop with that config, it's probably time to go brushless =) The stock main just doesn't have enough power. you could try the slow maxx, but I dunno enough about it to recommend it. I think no guy had it for a while and got good results for a little while, but then it ended up not working out. I dunno though.

Yeah go bl for all of that wieght or just shed some weight. TP 730mAh packs are 49grams, that will make your heli a whole new machine. the TP 910's are 65grams.
I dont know what brand your 1300 pack is but I am willing to bet that it is a tank.

I forgot to mention the 9 tooth pinion upgrade and the heat sinks. Did that too when I went to the lipo.
I was messing with it some tonight and noticed the setup in the radio had some errors that caused some funny flying. I'll have to do a flight test now and see what it does.
Where do you guys locate the flybar weights? I moved mine all the way in last time out, trying to get more maneuverability. Now I have more cyclic throw set up in the radio, so I think I'll move them back out for the next flight.
I'll weigh my pack tomorrow and report back. I know it's heavy, but there were no 800 packs in stock locally at the time.

Ya, I agree with going to carbon fiber blades and or a BL setup. You could also try out a pair of sym wood blades before you shell out for a pair of CFs. Besides, the plasti blades are more for sym blade training then for outright 3D flight, IIRC.
Also double check that the Tx throttle range or limit (if applicable) is set so that the motor reaches peak rpm. I'm sure that you've check this, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

My pack weighs 97.5 grams. I ran the motor without the head. I used both transmitters to check rpm vs. stick position. Naturally, I can only go by the tone of the motor. There is no diff between max speed, but the Eclipse radio reaches 100% at a lower stick position. That's with the throttle curve set to the stock settings. I'll be flying her tonight. Report later.

Set the computer to the specs listed in a thread on helifreak. They worked fine. The plasti-blade syms just plain suck. It takes too much pitch to get any lift that the tail can't hold the nose straight. Put on the flats and the model flies very nice. plenty of thrust, and balances out well in hover and ff. Tuned the gyro gain down to get a little more control, but now I need to fly the tail more. No problem, it's easy.
In a nutshell, I think this chopper is over rated. To get it to perform, too much money needs to be spent on it to make it feasible. I'm leaving this one as is and saving my money for something much better. The Mini Titan has my attention right now. I think it'll do what they say in stock form.
