I just finished overhauling my CPP. Changed to SuperSkids, titanium boom, Micro alum twin tail mount and dual motors with heat sink on each. First thing I noticed is that the G90 holds much better at a lower gain setting- about 50% at the Tx. Second the hover time is reduced about 30% with training gear and above setup. Total weight with TG is 390 gms. That is 90 gms heavier than the spec wt (no TG) of 298 gms.

I had to move the std 800 mAh battery as far foward into the canopy as possible and it is still slightly tail heavy. My next step is to go to a higher capacity battery 1100 - 1300. I will appreciate anyones help or comments on the above. I am new to using LiPo and expect that I will need a new charger/balancer for the larger battery - correct ?

I have a CNC dual tail housing that I fabricated myself, and it is slightly heavier that the commercially available unit. The two motors don't get hot, not even warm, and I have the G90 gyro. And I don't have any heat sinks on the tail motors. The housing itself, being metallic with lots of surface, seems to be enough to keep the motors cool. So Removing the heat sinks will help your "load and balance equation", without any negative effect on the motors in my opinion.

Also, since the dual tail arrangement is more responsive that stock, you can, if you want, shorten the tail boom a little. This would also help to balance your bird, but I did not need to do that. (I have the stock skids) Just make sure that both rotors cannot come in contact. Push down on the main rotor and rotate the tail rotor so that they come end to end, and measure the distance between the two. Remove just a little less, and you will be in business.

I can balance my BCPP perfectly by pushing the battery as far forward as it will go. I mean that the front of the battery is entirely supported by the canopy, and the back of the battery is supported by the rubber band on the battery holder.

I also have a Thunder Power Pro-Lite TP-1320 mah battery. I can also balance the heli with it, and without any modification.

IIRC, the CPP comes with the E-Flite EFLC 3110 charger which should work on 1100 or 1300 mAh 3 cell. However E-Flite recommends that you use this charger on E-Flite batteries only. The E-Flite 1200 mAh 3 cell (EFLB 1015) might work well. Check out the link below for more info on this battery.

But then again, I would just fly your CPP as is, if it's just a few degrees low at the tail. Just my .02 worth.

Oh and you don't need a bigger charger if the new battery has the same number of cells, same voltage, and has a higher capacity. It will only take longer to recharge it. The big NO-NO is to recharge a battery at a faster rate than one time its rated capacity. The charger that comes with the BCPP charges the stock 800 mah battery at 800 milliamps per hour. It will also recharge the 1300 mah battery at 800 milliamps per hour, which is OK. But it will take longer, like almost two hours instead of one. Charging a 500 mah battery with that same charger would be bad.

Always keep an eye on batteries while they are recharging, and place them in a safe place where they pose no fire hazard in case things go bad.

I also had the same problem with the tail being heavy.What I did is,I got some stick on wheel weights and added a little more that 1/2 of one 1/4 oz weight to the inside of the canopy
