Default To use the trim or not?????????HELP!

When hovering the CP Pro is it correct to Trim when the heli goes slightl slowly left or right due to gyro settings or should the left lever on the radio be used to correct the slight movement? I don't need bad habits but I have been using the trim on the radio and not the lever. Thanks in advance!

Hi darticus,

It sounds like your are ready to start "flying the tail"! Go ahead and start using the rudder (left stick). Just try not to change the throttle position too much while you do this. You will, with practice, be able to use the rudder without making any noticeable change in the throttle, so don't worry about it at first. Won't be long before you notice that you rarely need to make trim, mix, or gyro setting changes which means you can put that good looking canopy on for good.

Good luck and good flying!

Watching the guys at the LHS fly all sorts of stuff, I never see them check to see if anything is correctly trimmed. They spin up the rotor and work the controls gently to see what the flight characteristics are, then they just fly.
It's exactly what FMB42 said. Just fly it.
If something is ALWAYS set wrong, trim it, but mostly these things just get flown.

Hover is good for landing and taking off, but other than that it just wastes batteries.
IMHO.
Or maybe not so humble opinion.

What he said. If the heli always drifts a certain way, then trim it. If it is more than a few clicks, then take a look at the control throws and make the needed adjustments to keep everything centered. A good flying heli should be able to hold position with the sticks neutral,... if it doesn't do that, you have to continually fight it, and you are just making more work for yourself.

You will still need to compensate manually for things like fast climbouts, but I am assuming you are talking about basic hovering for the sake of this discussion.
