Default blade cp+ question and problem.

first off id like to start by asking if anybody has experienced alot of interference while flying there cp+? i mean like once every 3 flights or so. just the other day i got my blades tracked perfectly and stepped back to get her airborne and just as it lifted off the ground it went full throtle into the ceiling, bouncing off the ceiling a few times until finally hitting the floor in the dead chicken dance. while this was happening i had my throtle all the way off the throtle trim was at zero and the idle up switch was off! any idea if this was just random interference or does this sound like a hardware issue?

second thing i was wondering is what is the largest size pinion gear (amount of teeth) that can be used on the cp+? and im guessing that with a larger than stock you get more lift with less throtle? what are the advantages and disadvantages to doing different sized pinions?

thanks guys, chris

Hey Chris, One of the older gents from the thread WEEEE.....CP went through the glitch thing awhile back, and could never figure out for quite awhile what it was, and tried everything...New crystals, even .....Nothing....Guess what it was ? There was a Prison 4-5 miles away that would glitch his bird...Nightime was fine, daytime....Better stock up on parts ! The cure...He got a DX-6...And the problem was solved. Try swithing out your crystals and see if that might help also. That is exactly why in a few days I'am switching over to a DX-7...I don't want to have to worry about any interference..

The 72 mhz on the cpp is in cb radio range, and some trucker 15 miles away on the freeway with an illegally amped up cb radio broadcasting a bazillion watts is just waiting for you ----

Also, the stock TX's have been known to go out, and if flying in a tight area like your garage, try reducing the antennae length just a little...This has helped a few guys also... Good Luck, Jeff

I experienced a few glitches in the beginning and I think it was always related to the location I was flying. I decided to use my Futaba 9C transmitter instead of the stock E-Flite Tx, and I never experienced glitches again. But I also avoided flying at those few places where I had gotten hit with interference. So I can't say for sure.

As for pinions, the higher the pinion, the higher the head speed, obviously. So with higher head speed you get faster response and better authority and more lift for the same angle of attack, but you also get lower flight times and the motor running hotter, which could, in the extreme, cause your 3-in-1 or motor to die a premature death.

It depends on what you want to do with your machine. As for my preferences, I think the BCP in stock form is only good for sunday flying, so I want longer flight times and a cooler running main motor.

Edit : typos

as far as the interference there are a few things to check, make sure your Tx batts are all the way charged (works best with less than 2 green bars gone), make sure your antenna is screwed all the way in, make sure your antenna isn't running along any CF stuff like the tail boom, make sure your cyrstals are seated. If you have an air ionizer in the house, that makes these heli's go nuts sometimes, check inside the Tx and make sure the antenna wire has a good solid connection and there isn't a cold or cracked or loose solder joint.

About the pinion 8 or 9 T is really where you want to be with a 3s lipo. You can try to push it to a 10T, but your motor may run hot, and it probably wont last as long =)

thanks alot guy for all the help. in response to the cb radio suggestion for my interference there is 2 cab companies less than a mile from where i live so i think that might be it. im a little bummed out though because the day my heli went nuts on me and hit the ceiling it bent the main shaft so im unable to fly it now. hopefully the new shaft is'nt to expensive. does anyone know of a good upgraded shaft if any exists? id like to get something stronger than the stock one if such a part exists. im actually using a antenna from my firebird xl that i moddified to work in the cp+'s controller, because i got my heli used without the stock antenna, im wondering if this might be the issue? again thanks for the input, its nice being able to turn to these forums for tech support from the collective knowledge of everybody here. later, chris

there are several options for an upgraded shaft. The one you've got can be straightened, and a new one is like 8 bucks or something. You can get the microheli autoration gear and use those shafts or use the esky shafts, or make your own shaft out of the spindles in cd rom drives =)
