DNPower Batts any good? I haven't really found much of a reference of them here. I picked up some from Ebay from Stateline. Thoughts?

I have two of them 7.4V 850mAh 15C and they are working well for me. Work well with the stock eflite charger as well.

Thanx Stump....I foolishly bought them without consulting the board.......but really found no reference to them anyway.....I am stocking up for the coming weeks.......that gives me 4 packs to learn on.......keeping in mind that I need to let the motors cools down between........I am assured at least that the packs will be cool between charges.........my experience with lithium ion is that they HATE heat.....I have to imagine it is similar technology.

With the DN's you should get around a 10 minute flight, I have had instances of 13 to 14 minutes but that is very rare, and was only doing hovers and spot landings. You will find that after a 10 minute flight everything is going to be hot. Motors, and lipo's will be warm to the touch. Once you are down remove your lipo and let it cool at least 20 minutes before putting on the charger. There are several threads and topics on lipo memory as well. Some do a breakin to set battery memory, the short version looks like this....fly 1 minute charge, fly 2 minutes charge, fly 3 minutes charge....right up to full run. I personally haven't tried this however I'm just out of my rookie pants so I haven't had lipo's long enough. On my new bird I'm going to try the above and see if I notice any improvement.

i got em...they'er the bets i have and i got 2 stocks, 2 common sense rc 800, and 2 dn 900mah 10c. there is a post in this forum, i think, about the benefits of the c rating on these little cx and cx2's. it more about mah, milli amp hours? i think. the more you have the longer times you get. the c rating has to do with voltage or amount of power at any given moment. i think, again. please someone correct or clarify what i'm saying. i'm sure there is a diminishing returns, for these little brids, at a certain level. i'd be curious to see what the largest battery anyone has ever tested successfully and reliably. i'm not talking about the one way road of straping on a 10cell and seeing a flaming comet of swirling blades hitting the ground after a "successful" 60 second vertical takeoff. what i mean to say is...

dn's 900's are good.

I just got a accu-cycle elite charger and it was explaining the charging process and it said that 1C is the rated mAh rating ex) if you have a 900 mAh 1C would be .9 amps. Then you can take that times the rated burst C rating to see how many amps you can draw. That is what I understand from the manual. Yea mAh is how many mA you can draw for one hour. So the more you have the longer it can last.

i talked to some guy about it and he used a water tank analogy - the mah is the size of the tank, and the c is the max size of the outlet pressure - fast pressure out will drain even a huge tank quickly, and a slow pressure or draw out will make even a small tank last a long time

I, and some others here, have had trouble with the
900 MAH puffing prematurely...other seem to do
well with thew 850 MAH....go figure...there has been plenty
of discussion in the past...cheers, JMH

Just an FYI - Because i was curious I sent xtreme(miracle-mart) an email asking them how large of a battery the xtreme 180 motors could handle. Their response was, any size or capacity, as longs as its 7.4v.

Thats the text book answer, but what have other tried?

from what i've read, its all about the weight - there is only a certain amount of lift that you can generate, and attachments, bling, battery, etc takes away from that lift until you get to 0 and you no can get off the ground - and since the more weight you lift the more current you're going to draw (plus movement beyond hovering, draws even more), and the battery weight is not an insignificant portion of the total weight, there should be a point where the motors will max out current from the battery (which will probably make it puff and go bad) - my pod and boom cx could have probably lifted a 1300 thunderpower since that cx at the time was nothing but a camera pod, frame and a finless tail boom with a collar for a counterweight, but the full body cx2 would probably never have gotten off the ground with such a anchor-sized battery

on the other hand, has anybody seen these batteries? - do they work? - no more need for a lipo sack?

There are MANY Google points for this new tech but no anecdotal observations. Very interesting tech tho........hope the trickle down gets cheaper tho........SHEESH!
