Default Picked up a CX2 :D

So i picked up a blade cx2 yesterday after really wanting a nice easy to fly hobby grade heli. And all I can say is wow. This thing is exactly what i wanted. So far I've broken 2 lower rotor heads....But I ordered an aluminum one which should clear up that problem. One question i do have is on body recommendations. I love the scale bodies I've found for this heli but I'm worried about run time being decreased with added weight. Anyone care to chime in?
Thanks guys,
Matt

You will loose some run time with the added weight, but I couldn't guess how much. I went with the extreem pod and boom kit and really like it. I want to get into scale helis soon, but I'll do that with a single rotor unit.

allright, i guess ill have to find out for myself

I also found a battery tray conversion here: http://www.helitek-rc.com/index.php?...d&productId=42

That would allow the batteries from a llama heli to fit. they are much less expensive, and have better ratings too. figure that out :/

MY question is can i charge the llama lipo's on my eflite charger? they have the balancing port and are the same voltage.

Thanks
Matt

Matt ~

So..... With the years ya got committed into the RC cars & boats, I would have to make a guess here since I've been seeing ya steady here, but it seems your into your early addiction phases of the heli's now... LOL...

As far as your fuselages, it all depends which one ya choose and the weights but it shouldn't hurt your flight times to awfully bad... I have one fuselage that only weighs 21 grams in which isn't to bad... But for the CX2 I prefer the boom and pod effect just for personal reasons in which is how I have the heli configured right now.

Cheers,

~ Jeff

Matt ~

As far as your battery tray, what I did was just mod the stock CX2 tray and cut up any useless material so that I could fly with most battery configurations... I use Industrial strength velcro to keep the battery in place and have never had the battery seperate from the tray in over a year of flying and survived many crashes. The stuff is twice as sticky and strong as the regular velcro, and for over a year I've only been flying my CX2 with my CPP 3-cells which are even heavier than the 2-cell jobbers. I wouldn't encourage the use of 3-cells in the CX2, as there are risks involved but I've never had a problem and still have the stock 4 in 1.

Here's a short video of my CX2 inside with the 3-cell, and the pod and boom I currently have on it to this day...

Hey Jeff,

yeah, definatly hooked. at least untill funds fun out. I think i may be retiring a few of the old nitro trucks. too much money tied up in it. and never enough time to fuss with old motors.
My cousins been into the helicopter scene for a little while, but we both took a break from rc's. Then ended up getting hooked again after both getting airhogs mini heli's for xmas

Thanks for the info, i like the Velcro idea, nice and simple

thanks for the ideas!

Matt

you could also run just A carbon boom kit with your stock hood and just cut up the hood a little. saves weight. actuly makes it lighter.
also as long as its a 7.4volt batt with a blance port it will work with the heli. I my self like the Tenergy V2 10C 900mAh 7.4 volt 2 cell.
I got a few from a mom and pop shop for 11.25 a pop. An extended inner shaft is also a good way to stop breaking blades do to blaed strikes. Have fun ... I do

I bought the CX2 last Christmas and I love it! The graphite boom kit is VERY nice. I recommend using cyanoacrylate adhesive with the spray activator to keep the boom parts in place. I ordered the clear body so it could be custom painted and added the lighted fly-bar (in red) for very cool effects, especially at night. I also recommend using the training gear while you are learning to fly the heli. It reduces breakage of the rotor blades and landing gear (which I also upgraded with the stronger graphite version).

i have 2 md500 art-tech junk.the bodies are nice but a pain in the butt when you have issues.i personaly prefer the plain ole nose canopies.easy on and off.i have the walkera metal 60 walkera metal 5#10 blade 400,exceed eagle 50 with the walkera 22e metal head(which is a really crappy heli)and just got the walkera 52 micro boy that sucker is hard to fly.maybe if i could figure out how to set up the controller it maybe easier.and then my trusty double hores 9081.anyway what was i saying ,oh yea a full bodied heli is a pain to work on

J-MICHAEL, where did you get that tail and boom kit and most of your other upgrades in your You Tube video? I'm guessing your not new to the CX2 so do the folding type blade rotor head systems offer better tracking & performance? Lastly is it possible for a properly trimmed CX2 to hover without the nose wondering left or right like mine does? I can't find a happy spot, it wanders left or right but can never get it locked. Thank you, Systemlord.
