Blade CP
#1
Just got my first heli, looked them all over and I thought for the bucks the E-Flite Blade CP was the best.
Having a blast with it and just starting to get the hang of hovering without hitting anything.
I posted a question on another thread but thought I would start another due to having more questions and try to tap the knowledge base.
Question #1:
I was wondering if I could use my Hitec Eclipse 7 or my Tracker III transmitter with this unit. I was going to program some exp into the the controls to make my movements more suttle and maybe help the learning curve. I have not been able to get the computer transmitters to work (so far) with the E-flite receiver. The little red light flashes then turns green for 1 flash and then red/green. I am not sure if I have the channels set up correctly for the 4 functions.
Question #2:
If I cannot get the trans working, I noticed that the push rods are at the very end of each servo. I know that moving them inward will reduce the throw but then I think I will be readjusting all the controls. My thoughts were if i cant get exp programed in then I can reduce the travel to help make the control movements smoother.
Anyone got any helpful info???
thanks in advance for your help.....

Larry,
Do you have the 4in1 or 3in1 with the seperate receiver? If the red and green light are alternating then the receiver isn't connected to the transmitter.
If you move the pushrods in toward the center of the servo horn you will need to adjust the pushrods, so they are smaller. So with the motors unpluged, at half throttle, and in idle up the swashplate should be level.

Got mine at the local hobby shop, $169.00, they are being phased out by the Blade CP+. I know where I can get 3 more if you want one.
The reason I wanted to use my other trans is that I can add EXP into the controls. This will make the movements mor suttle in the throws so I can get the learning curve quicker. Kinda like setting up dual rates for airplane controls.

Glad to see you're having fun, on heli's keep all the end point adjustments at 100%, I wouldn't use expo either. A better way of more precicely tamming the aileron and elevator down, is go into the swash mode and dial the percentage down, take it down to about 30% and the Blade CP becomes a very stable heli. I'm not sure on the Hitec Tx, but on futaba I just bought short Rx crystals and plugged them into the 4&1 and it worked great. They are definitely way better to fly with a programmable heli TX.

Yeah, forgot about the Heli mode. I wil have to check if the Hitec has that mode. I know my Tracker III does not. Another way was just to dual rate the throws to say 50%. This would slow the action down also
Thanks I will play with it tonight to see if I can get it to work.

My Hitec does have the Heli mode. Tried to get it to work with playing with the EPA on the throttle settings and the + or - signal shift.
Since Hitec and Futaba are the same pulse shift, what did you set yours for?
Did you need to adjust the EPA on the throttle settings?
When I fire up the receiver I get the 3 red blinks, 1, green and then the red/green blinks.
Please advise.

The crystal for the receiver is that a single conversion or double.
I tried a double conversion crystal into the rec so it would match my Hitec xtmtr, but still get the blinking red/green on initalization.
Have my throttle (ch-3) at normal and 100% EPA. Hitec set up in Heli mode.
I did move the control links inward on the servo arms, this did reduct the travel. Wish I would have done that before I went outside today and trashed my last pair of blades.[

Gotta get some more. I noticed on Ebay they have plastic replacement blades. Are these any good???

Got some info from E-Flite tech guys.
I asked them about using a normal transmitter with there 4 in 1 receiver. They said that they never tried it but it might work.
The receiver is a neg shift, so Hitec Eclipse 7 and Futaba computer transmitter should work. There crystals are single conversion.
Since this is a 6 channel receiver you may need to mix channel 3 and 6 together to to get the throttle and pitch to sync together.
The only thing I need to figure out is the arming of the receiver with the throttle control. So far I have not been able to get the receiver to arm itself.
