i have a blade cx2 and mcx and i use the same controller. the lp5dsm one. it has a travel switch and i don't under stand what its purpose is? i noticed while hovering my mcx that when i am in a stable hover and turn that switch, it makes the heli loose power and drop a little bit. what is it? what can i use it for? also, when i want to fly my cx2, what are the dip switches? which ones are up and down because i forgot them. thanks!

Kruser - The LP5DSM is a 5 channel transmitter. The CX2 and CX3 use a 5 channel receiver, that knob would control the 5th channel. Guys have used the knob to control lights and retractable gear and such on the CX2 and it is used for the navigation lights on the CX3. The receiver picks up the signal when you turn the knob and that that takes a little power so the helicopter drops slightly when you turn the knob clockwise. It doesn't do anything for the MCX. Just turn it fully counter clockwise.
As far as the switches go.
CX2 and CX3 1 - 6 - 7 up
MCX 1 - 8 up

thanks. but the mcx does drop when you turn the switch. how many volts does the 5thchannel give out? is it enough to ignite a rocket ignitor?

Josh,
When I had my first heli, a buddy and me decided to launch bottle rockets off of the skids, and it worked pretty well...
We used an extra channel on the radio, which operated a servo, which then activated a mechanical switch, and applied voltage from a 9V battery to the rocket ignitor, which then (after it was placed carefully in the end of the bottle rocket) lit the fuse of the bottle rocket...
Looked pretty cool, to say the least...only had one shot per flight though...LOL
Have fun,
Glenn
