Default Blade cp

I have a Blade cp and would like to use my Futaba 9c radio instead of the e-flite radio. If I get a channel 52 crytal for the receiver to match the radio will the heli reconize the radio?

Just pick up a Burg reciever, or any other micro FM reciever with crystal. I don't know if the Eflite reciever is compatible with the Futaba crystals. It might be. I can tell ya, if you do use the 9C, you can realy dial in the heli. Once you get the motor issues worked out.

I also have an old Blade CP that I would like to put on my Futaba 9C to practice on.

From my understanding, it would take more than just a receiver to switch from the 4 in 1 entirely. (As far as swapping crystals, I'd have to try it)

To Switch completely from the 4 in 1, Am I correct in thinking I will need:

Receiver
Speed controler for the main motor
Speed controler for the tail motor
Gyro

If this is correct, would like some clarification on how the tail motor and Gyro are to be hooked up.

Sorry if this was elsewhere. The search is not user firendly!

(And being a Heli newbie, I could use some advice!)

You could use the 3 in 1 that comes with the CP. The 3 in 1 is just sticky taped to the E-flite reciever. If you want to go brushless, then its better to get an SR 2 in 1, gyro, brushless motor, and direct drive tail motor upgrade. The Hitec Neon 6 is about the same size as the E-flite reciever. The Futaba 146I is another. Or if you go 2.4, they are small as well.

Thats where my problem lies, Steve.
My CP is so old, it does not use the 3 in 1, but the 4 in 1. Everything is self contained within the 'brick'.

I had heard that upgrading the gyro and putting it on a real radio would fix some of it's twitchyness, with the direct drive tail rotor, even better.

I have the receiver and speed controlers from other projects. How the gyro hooks up is the part I'm not positive about.
(I may have it now, tho, talked with my LHS and they say it 'should' work.)

I just need this one flying cheaply (and to polish skills on) until I set back enough for a B400.

Can't seem to keep my mSR running. One 5 in 1 and one tail motor so far, without any major crashes

tybeegaboy and all,

I just found the answer to my and your questions.

In the Esky heli area I found someone that posted seperating the receiver out of the 4 in 1.

I just pulled my CP 4 in 1 apart and it appears I could Frankenstein a receiver for my 9c to it.

It's late so I will have to finish it later. I will get some pictures on it posted soon.

Mikey29a,

You are absolutely correct about being able to separate the 4N1 into it's individual components - the receiver section and the gyro/mixer section (I did this after I burned up the gyro/mixer section and didn't want to buy an entirely new 4N1).

The hack will look a bit bulky b/c Eflight puts the pins on both sides of the board (that way the gyro/mixer section plugs into the back and gives the "brick" appearence) - in essence you'll have your servo's plugged into the one side and the motor (main and tail) plugged into the opposite side, if memory serves correctly.

Good luck,

Mark
